We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ace2x a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ace2x thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Yo! My name is Ace2x, I’m a 20 year old multi-talented artist from Dallas Tx & my brand embodies just that.
I’ve always been a multi-tool in life having played multiple positions in multiple sports, winning film competitions on the local and national level, acting & working in SAG films, & other ventures. I value being able to have a hand in all aspects of what’s going on with my brand. The name Ace comes from me just wanting to be as knowledgeable as I can in not just what I do but all aspects of the business so even when I have other people doing the work for/with me I can communicate my ideas effectively and speak their language.
Originally I put the 2x there just because of how many artists were named Ace & was planning on removing it after a certain point but I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback & many people just call me 2x so it’ll prolly stay lol we’ll see.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into music after about 4 years of doing film work I realized it just wasn’t for me in the long run. I started producing purely out of randomness just because I’ve always loved music and fell into it. Shortly after I moved out to LA when I was 18 for school & met many amazing people who helped me grow into the artist I am today.
I started off making straight hip-hop music but took a break and haven’t dropped dropped in a little over a year just getting better at my craft & understanding the difference between a song & a record. The new batch coming out is still hip hop based but is a lot more melody infused as well as tapping into different genres like pop and rock. You can get a glimpse of this from my self produced project “Over Top” but what’s coming blows it out of the water.
I’d say I’m most proud of the patience I’ve had in the time I’ve spent putting these projects together. Not dropping music for so long sometimes weighs in but I’m very much into quality over quantity. As well as understanding I have a plan for the music and am putting together a proper marketing scheme & rollout so I don’t fly under the radar. I’ll just say when I’m back I’ll be back & you’ll know it.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I started I was just a producer making beats n such & just being surrounded by artists all the time I decided to make a song of my own. It got a lot of positive feedback & did like 3k streams pretty fast. People around me started telling me I should keep going so as time passed I was making my own beat n rapping on em. Eventually I got into engineering and I was juggling 3 aspects of music at once trying to evolve simultaneously but the learning curve was steep I wasn’t getting better at the pace I wanted too. During this time I met Isaac Rich who’s my producer now and being able to lean on his skills as a producer allowed me to fall into my artistry more.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Having run multiple live events, scheduled film sets, & creative direction of music videos it’s important that everyone who’s involved in making decisions feels heard and understood even if their ideas aren’t being used. For this to really work it’s imperative the amount of people that have a say so are limited and trustworthy. People who want the best for the product & not for themselves. If the leaders come forward united and transparent the team is more willing to work.
