We recently connected with Ace Allure and have shared our conversation below.
Ace, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
At a very young age, I knew that I wanted to pursue music. Originally, I was on the path to become a choreographer. I attended Uptown Dance Academy in Harlem. That’s where I learned how to perform as a professional. As time went on, the dance routines transitioned into poetry and later into lyrics. My mother is a big part of my decision of being a creative. She played countless hours of music ranging from the Jackson 5, Mary J. Blige to Jay Z, Wu Tang Clan & the list goes on. Creativity is in my blood and my spirit.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My full artist name is Ace Boogie Brown The Allure, Ace Allure for short. I was born and raised in New York City, primarily in between Harlem & the Bronx. I was exposed to a wide variety of music at a very young age. I absorbed all of what I was hearing and started expressing myself through dance and poetry, which turned into lyrics. I officially started rapping at the age of 13 during my freshman year of high school and the rest is history. It always stuck with me even when I tried to ignore it or stop creating for small periods of time. My style of rap is based in lyricism and soul. I’ve always put a lot of thought and effort into all of my rhymes and deliver it from my heart. I believe that is what sets me apart from others. I give my audience a nostalgic feeling mixed with today’s relevance. I’m most proud of staying true to myself and my way of creating. Deviating from what is authentic to me is something that I stay clear from.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having an impact on people. There are hundreds, if not thousands of artists that are active right now, so for people to make a choice to genuinely support you is an amazing feeling.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is the freedom to create full time. As a rising artist, I still have a regular job and run a small business, so it takes some time away from being in the studio as much as I would like. Once I get to the point where I can create 24/7 and tend to the things that come with that, I will feel truly liberated.
