Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Accari Alexander. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Accari, thanks for joining us today. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Best investment would be in my cameras. Each camera came with its own price tag but worth every penny. My first camera was a FujiFilm which was about $100 on Amazon. Which was the best but it’s was great for sunrise photos. A year later I purchased my second camera which was a Canon T5i. I bought this camera because a friend had one and I feel in love with the quality and build of the camera. I used this camera for portrait when I started taking photography more seriously. After that camera I purchased a Sony A6300, because it shoot in 4k for videos and had the best low light quality. And as of now I have a Canon 5D mark IV and I love the quality of the images. It’s has 50.4 megapixels which great for detail in photos.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into photography after college. I’ve always love photography but didn’t think much of it in high school but I did take digital design which came in handy years later. I took it more seriously just trying to find a new hobby outside of my job at the time. My passion for photography grew after friends and family seen my potential which was a great feeling to be admired by them. One thing does set me apart from other photographers is outside of my photos I provide customer service that either helps or make the client more comfortable as far as having a mobile changing station, provide drinks, a mirror and my cart to hold their items.
I just want people to know I’m all about them during my time of service. I want to capture your memories and provide a rememberable experience too.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I remember I had to crack down on my skills in photography because I personally knew I could be better than where I already was. My problem was I self taught and was trying to learn photography and videography skill simultaneously which cause a lot of burn out. So, I put videography on the back burner so I can invest more into learning new skills or improve them. That pivot was definitely was worth the time invested.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth and social media has definitely been the best source of new clients. I’ve learned how to self market myself.
