We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful AC3 Sage . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with AC3 below.
AC3 , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
So I came up with my name from family. I’m the first (Ace) of 3 children (Ac3) and I always believed that my father was a sage his educational level stopped at high school but he was top tier was and with that I am his first sage hence the name Ac3 Sage
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into music from youth. My mother was heavily in the church so my singing started their, however because of my fathers time with me I experienced different type of music (Hip Hop, R&B, pop, funk, etc.) because of my father & my uncle Bubba I got into my R&B bag from listening to their playlist. It caused me to venture out into music for myself. So I dabbled in singing doing school plays and church stuff then once I got to college I met Bluflame James and Luos Nod and from there began my path of being an artist past consumption. I wanted to create my own music. So with my music it’s all about things I’ve experienced in my life time and it’s more so of a cleanse to me to put it out there in the world so the Sage has a double meaning cause once it’s out there it’s a cleanse to me and a vibe to the consumer.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to learn was to not be so hard on myself about my music and just take the time to create because there have been plenty of times where I start with an idea of a song and once I get into the studio and start recording the song takes a path of it’s on and becomes something great than first intended. Being unsure it’s ok but don’t let it stop you from finishing and creating it. You have to create and listen back to it to be better in your craft.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I would have to say doing shows and letting the people see the face behind the music actually interacting with people and other artist once I’m down with a set or once they are done with their sets. It gives the people a sense of a personal relationship which I believe allows them to indulge in the music past what I performed.
