We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Abyon Ausar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Abyon below.
Alright, Abyon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
I have a team of people that I collaborate with regularly to secure employment opportunities, but I also do a lot for myself. I’ve met some of them by simply submitting through an agency’s website or attending an open call (pre-covid). Others were connected from personal relationships and even networking events. Each person that I work with brings something different to the table and we all want to see each other win. I know that this journey isn’t one that I can take alone and it’s important to keep people around me that have my best interest. I think the people on my team see the value in working with someone like me. I’m extremely well-rounded, charismatic, and I do my part when it comes to handling business.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m most proud of my impact on others. I love networking and sharing valuable information that could help someone along their journey. Although I’m still fairly new to the entertainment industry there’s been a substantial amount of people who I’ve been able to help in a variety of ways such as portfolio development, finding acting resources and/or side-hustles, booking gigs independently, finding the right agency, motivation, etc. There’s just something about providing real value to people that I love. I’m the “Peoples Champ” for a reason, and I truly believe that my work is just getting started.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’m striving to be the best possible version of myself, and being a creative seemed to be the only pathway for me that comes without limitations. Obtaining work as a model and actor requires me to work on myself constantly in a variety of ways, polish old skills, and develop new ones.
Physically I aim to be in the best shape because it’s job security. I know that the better I look the more opportunities I’ll be presented with. That also serves as motivation to eat healthy, go to the gym, and live an active lifestyle. Mentally I need to be sharp and focused in order to execute directions on set, stay organized, and remain calm when pressure is high. I continuously put myself in situations most people would call “difficult or stressful” because those are the experiences that are going to add true value for me in the long run. Being emotionally “in-tune” is also an essential element to longevity in this business. How I act/react in situations could directly dictate my next move. And its very important to be in a clear headspace because this is a relationship-based business. If I’m not, it will show in my work, auditions, and personal life. There’s no space to harbor negative energy or keep things around that disturb my peace and mental clarity.
Also, I crave new experiences. Doing the same thing, the same way, and not being challenged for the sake of having a job isn’t worth it. I live a very spontaneous, exciting, and optimistic life. There’s so much more to learn, places to go, and people to meet!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Absolutely! There’s a plethora of books, videos, and classes that have impacted my entrepreneurial journey. These are a few of my favorite reads that come to mind.
Acting: Self-Management for Actors, Business Before Craft
Finance: Think & Grow Rich, Cashflow Quadrant
Personal development: The Code of the Extraordinary Mind, Mindset
Fiction: The Alchemist
