Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Abraham Morales. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Abraham, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
I truly believe the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is buying my work. Every time someone is interested in what I do a profound connection happens and every single time we start talking about the dream world, they understand the images and metaphors I use, something inside of every person that buys my work shines and that is utterly satisfactory, every time it happens I feel I’m doing something of value for the world. Like my pictures are full of happiness and light.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Usually I solve problems involving messages through images, visual narrative that is. So my clients come to me looking for a fresh approach to illustrate a text for a magazine or to comission a portrait of a dearest one. I always do some research about the subject(s) to find inspiration, references and symbols I can use in the pictures I make. I find it very exciting to use some surreal and dreamy elements to add more levels of reading an image and that makes it more interesting to watch.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Connect with people. Every time someone buys a piece from me is an achievement, it tells me that person saw something in my work that compelled them to get it. And every time I have the chance to talk to clients they let me know their interpretation of my piece, how it connects with some of their personal story and that is so rewarding to me. Two humans connecting on an emotional level.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I think NFTs have been a stroke of luck for some creators and I love it! But I prefer materic objects, their smell, their feeling, their presence in a determined space, all of these aspects are so fulfilling for me so I wouldn’t buy an NFT ever, but I see them as a new format for selling art and in that sense they open a whole new horizon and opportunities for all artists.
