We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Abraham Lopez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Abraham below.
Alright, Abraham thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project that I’ve worked on is my film The Betrayal. It is meaningful to me because the story was inspired by true events so I put lots of thought and meaning into the whole story, especially the characters.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
When I was about 7 or 8 years old, my older sisters were into acting and I would watch them go to auditions. I became interested in acting and decided I wanted to do it too. My Godmother is a producer in the entertainment industry, so I talked to her about it and she encouraged me to go for it. As I got older, I became more involved in sports and this took up most of my time and focus. My senior year of high school I experienced a football injury that disallowed me from playing anymore, so after graduating high school I decided to follow in the footsteps of my Godmother and do producing. I created my own production company called A Greek God Entertainment LLC. We provide people with production, pre-production, and post-production services for anything from commercials, to music videos, to feature films. I have produced, written, and directed many multi-award winning films of my own including The Betrayal, Life Like This, ED: A Love Story, Hidden Lives, Love Ways, and A Knock. I am very proud of these films and how I have been able to share them with multiple audiences. What sets me apart from others is that I know what I want and I don’t hesitate, second guess myself, or re-think things so I am able to get things done faster than most people. I don’t spend hours trying to figure out what shots I want to get or how I want things to be because the vision I have is very clear so I am able to get it done quickly and efficiently. I want people to know that I am very passionate about what I do and I have 13+ years of experience working in the industry.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I believe there are many things that non-creatives don’t understand about the journey of a creative. One of these things is how business works in the entertainment industry. I have noticed that many people who aren’t familiar with the industry tend to have difficulties understanding that it is not like working a typical 9-5 job where you get a bi-monthly paycheck. Things in the entertainment industry take time and require a lot of patience, faith, and passion. Things are not instantaneous, but in the end you earn a lot from the process whether it is knowledge, experience, or money. The life of a creative takes focus, time, and lots of passion.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
In general, the story of Walt Disney has inspired me a lot and influenced how I run my business. Both the autobiography of Walt Disney and the movie Walt Before Mickey has inspired me to work hard and to work together as a team. I have spent many years trying to build not only a team, but a family within my company to create with and to build with.
