Abigail, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Five years ago, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I loved making people happy. I thought a lot about how I could turn that into something meaningful, and that’s how I started Abbys Surprise. Planning/Decorating events and surprises to create moments where people feel loved and celebrated.
While building Abbys Surprise, I realized I wasn’t really done. My love for fashion had always been there and I wanted to create something that reflected my style and creativity. That’s when I started my Fashion and clothing brand, which later grew into Abbys Luxury. It wasn’t easy at first but each challenge taught me something new and pushed me to grow.
What started as a small event planning and surprise business has now blossomed into two distinct brands that work together. Abbys Surprise brings joy through events and experiences, while Abbys Luxury allows people to express themselves through bold, stylish fashion. Both brands reflect my passion for creativity, making people feel special and turning ideas into reality.
Looking back, the journey taught me that you don’t always need to have everything figured out from the start. It’s okay to begin with a small idea, take risk and learn as you go. That’s how I turned my love for making people happy and my passion for fashion into two thriving businesses I’m proud of today.

I’m Abigail Matthew, Founder and Creative Director of Abbys Surprise and Abbys Luxury. I’ve always loved creating moments that make people feel happy, seen and celebrated. About five years ago, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I loved bringing joy to others. That led me to start Abbys Surprise, a business focused on planning events, surprises and decor experiences that leave lasting memories. My goal is to create moments where people feel truly special, whether it’s a wedding,birthday, anniversary, proposal or just a little unexpected happiness.
While building Abbys Surprise, I realized I wasn’t done. I also have a passion for fashion. That’s how Abbys Luxury came to life. It’s a clothing and accessories brand that focuses on bold, stylish and high-quality pieces that help people express themselves. With Abbys Luxury, I wanted to give my clients products that are not just trendy, but also make them feel confident, seen and empowered.
What sets my brands apart is the personal touch and attention to detail. I combine creativity, luxury and emotion to create experiences and products that really connect with people. I pay attention to what my clients need and I always try to go above and beyond to exceed expectations and that’s in designing a beautiful surprise or curating a fashion collection that stands out.
I’m most proud of how both brands have grown from small ideas into thriving businesses that impact people’s lives. Abbys Surprise has helped countless clients celebrate meaningful moments and Abbys Luxury allows people to feel bold and confident through fashion.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my reputation comes from consistency, creativity and care. With Abbys Surprise, I focused on making every event unique and memorable, which led to referrals and word-of-mouth growth. With Abbys Luxury, it’s about quality, style and making clients feel valued. Being professional, responsive and showing behind-the-scenes of my work also helped people trust and recognize my brands.


We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn was thinking that I had to have everything figured out from the start. When I first started Abbys Surprise, I felt like I needed a perfect plan before doing anything. I spent a lot of time overthinking and worrying about every detail.
The backstory is that in the early days, I hesitated to take on bigger clients or try new ideas because I wanted everything to be perfect. But over time, I realized that taking action and learning as I go was more important than waiting for the perfect plan. Each event I planned and every product I launched taught me something new and those lessons helped both Abbys Surprise and Abbys Luxury grow.
Now, I focus on starting, experimenting and improving along the way rather than waiting for perfection. It’s one of the most important lessons I’ve learned as a business owner.
