We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Abigail Johnston. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Abigail below.
Abigail, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
My passion for photography ignited when I was ten years old. I fell in love with taking photos of my everyday experiences and the people in my life. I pursued a degree in photojournalism and eventually got my BFA in Studio Art, with a focus on photography. Since then, I’ve been growing my photography business by working with both wedding and commercial clients.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am fascinated by the intersection between curiosity, a good story and art. When I work with my camera, I use these three pillars as my motivation. Whether the client has hired me to photograph their wedding or business, I infuse story into the thread. I love finding the small detailed moments that bring expansion to the human experience.
My authenticity, attention to detail and love for seeing beauty in all stories shines through in my work.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding part of being a photographer is being able to snap those special moments that capture beauty, emotion, or significance. It’s incredible to share my unique perspective through my photos and see how they resonate with people. Plus, I love experimenting with different techniques and pushing the limits of my creativity—it keeps things exciting and helps me grow as an artist.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Keeping in touch with clients and fostering brand loyalty is very important to me. It’s all about staying connected and building relationships, which is part of why I love this line of work. I make sure to regularly reach out via emails, newsletters, and social media, sharing insights into my work and upcoming projects. By consistently delivering quality work and nurturing trust and connection with my clients, I aim to build lasting relationships and encourage repeat business and referrals.
