We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Abigail Emery a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Abigail, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
If I could go back and start my business again I would have taken the leap of faith much sooner. It was exciting to be a business owner and it gave me more motivation in my personal life. I started reading for pleasure again and listening to podcasts about business mindset. I started eating healthier and exercising more. I said, “Yes!” to every opportunity to meet someone new and make connections. I really got out of my comfort zone. Once I got the ball rolling, I was able to work one step at a time to make my dream a reality.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been a chiropractic physician for nine years. I specialize in working with women and children. I help women who are trying to get pregnant through acupuncture and supportive supplements. I’m a Certified Mercier Therapist. This technique is used to improve hormonal balance, improve pelvic organ mobility and blood flow. It helps with infertility and is used by women in the postpartum period improve their recovery. I see pregnant women throughout all stages of pregnancy, and even into post-partum. My favorite moment in my practice is when a new mom brings her baby in to meet me or receive their first newborn adjustment. A baby might need chiropractic care if they have a difficult birth, a lot of tension, a tongue-tie, colic, or trouble feeding. What sets my practice apart from other chiropractic clinics is that I take more time with my patients to help them feel comfortable with their adjustment and I provide a more individualized plan of care than others out there.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I’m grateful for referrals from my patients, and these are the best sources of new patients. I also receive referrals from partners like doulas, midwives and dentists. We work together to support the whole person.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I’ve created a brand that’s a reflection of how I think patients should be treated in a wellness clinic. I take extra care with new moms and little babies who need extra TLC. I’m honest about what my treatments can do for someone. I don’t subscribe to long treatment plans. I support a patient’s choice to try massage therapy, counseling, or physical therapy. I want everyone to feel welcome at Bloom Well. I’m authentic in what I share on social media and I’m passionate about serving others. I’m currently serving as my local Rotary Club’s Local Service Projects Chair. I’ve really enjoyed this role because it’s allowed me to make a big impact on the community by engaging our members.
