Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Abigail Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Abigail, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Reverie, a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts; a daydream.
As a local real estate advisor on the Florida Panhandle, it’s my mission, to help my client’s find their ‘reverie.’ Leading with a human-first approach I aim to empower my clients through real estate transaction to live the lives they have always imagined. While also being able to pour back into the community by partnering with Sonders Project who empower impoverished communities through high-impact, sustainable development.
Abigail, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
‘Not all those who wander are lost’ jr.r. tolkien
After graduating from high school with high honors and earning a coveted spot in the ‘hall of fame,’ with a resume boasting all the right extracurriculars, the expectation was always there for me to eloquently answer the question, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ However, my path was never clear.
Post-graduation, I found myself managing a beach concierge company, overseeing college interns during the summer. Soon after, I embarked on a journey to teach English as a second language in Bali, Indonesia, an experience cut short by an active volcano. Despite the abrupt return, it ignited a desire for knowledge, mirroring the curiosity of the students I had the privilege of teaching.
I delved into the world of business under the guidance of the owner/operator of a successful vacation rental business, sparking my entrepreneurial spirit. This led to the establishment of a boutique marketing firm, and then starting a day-of-wedding coordination business. Even amid a global pandemic and a new marriage, my passion for growth persisted, prompting me to immerse myself in the realm of real estate, a move I haven’t regretted since.
Motivated by this journey, I pursued my broker associate license before the age of 25, accompanied by a collection of designations and certifications. These include Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS), Pricing Strategy Analyst (PSA), Commitment to Excellence (C2EX), and Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI). These credentials serve as a daily testament to the fact that real estate is not merely a career for me; it’s a finely honed craft and a dedicated business that I tirelessly pursue.
Now, not only do I get to assist my client with living the lifestyle they have always dreamed of, but I’m doing the same. As my husband and I build our barndomimium dream on our five acre homesite with our pup Boone.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
In the work of real estate it’s not uncommon to hear of real estate advisors who may hold their license on the side.
But for me, my side hustles all were ways I could pour back into my business. My boutique marketing firm allowed me to understand the needs of a small business and practice to better position myself in the future. In additional my day-of- coordination business allowed me to understand how to continue to lead with a servants heart as well as communicate effectively with vendors to ensure a seamless end product.
Yet in the end, I know if I truly wanted to scale up my real estate business. it was all or nothing. That’s where it has to shift. If you believe in your craft enough, you have to be willing to go all in on you.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The Go-Giver, by Bob Burg.
If you ever have the chance to sit down and really soak in this series, your vision will truly shift like never before. Mr. Burg truly finds a way to explain that it’s not about the mentality of ‘what can I get’. But instead what can I give.
The book centers around the idea of principals, reminding you your value is not determined by your sales, but by how many people you serve and the level of service you give to them. He shifts your mentality to remember
The Law of Compensation: Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them. The Law of Influence: Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first. The Law of Authenticity: The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.
