Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Abigail Ann. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Abigail, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
When I entered this industry, I was fourteen. The only experience I had prior to my internship at a media consulting agency was what I had learned from using social media for personal reasons. A lot of what I have learned since is from experience. Jumping straight into something might not always be easy, and it definitely will be uncomfortable at times, but there is a lot to be learned from experimenting and putting yourself in new situations. I think that looking back, I wish I was more okay with making mistakes and asking for help. The more you open yourself up to feedback, the more opportunity you have to learn and grow both professionally and as an individual.
Abigail, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been in the media industry for about five years now. Throughout those years, I have tried a lot of different things and explored many facets of social media. From writing to production, content creation, and social media management, social media has in many ways been an outlet for me to be creative and express myself. It’s also been a tool that has taught me a lot about myself and helped me grow my interests. In the past few years, I have interned for a media company, worked for several social media influencers, managed several professional media accounts, and created multiple forms of content for both work and personal purposes. Now, I focus primarily on social media consulting for brands and social media personalities to build an online presence.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is really the connections you make online. It’s always a blessing to connect with people you typically wouldn’t encounter day-to-day. It’s a special thing to maintain friendships with other creatives from different parts of the world, and it’s one of the things I most enjoy about social media.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Overall, my goal when creating content is to have fun and share who I am and what I love. I honor when I feel inspired, and I also give myself grace when I don’t feel super passionate about making content at times. At the end of the day, making content is a way to express myself. I want to honor it as an outlet for sharing my interests and passions and to spread positivity along the way.
