We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Abe Mac . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Abe below.
Alright, Abe thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us a story about a time you failed?
The music business, such a fragile and quick, ever-changing flow. You can devote so much time in marketing and growth, and I have a change all at once in a matter of days.
Being an independent Country artist , you have to do it all yourself with subcontracting different services of which all a record label has in house.
Being an Independent Country artist means you have to manage, market, and produce your own music and concept of production.
The biggest challenge came in March if 2020 when Covid hit.
Prior to that I had invested three years of solid marketing into my music business, giving us the growth and opportunity to tour with country star Jon Pardi for the summer of 2020.
Unfortunately, as we know it, the world shut down and was in a frenzy due to COVID-19.
The music business, unfortunately has not a necessity and is a nonessential type of demand in life
It most definitely hindered all the hard work and effort it took to market and be relevant within the country music scene.
But just like that the whole year of 2020 everything disappeared in our scope.
All the opportunities we had to be part of big production concert tours went down the drain and the opportunity to showcase in different magazines and radio shows also went down the drain since everything shut down.
Since then, I relocated to San Antonio, Texas as of 2021, and I have been in rebuilding the integrity of this project back to where the cost for the opportunity for major record label exposure was in 2020.
I definitely feel this has been one of the most unapologetic failures that was forced upon unforeseen circumstances.
Although, I feel as if it’s not fair, I still hold strong mentality of pushing forth and coming out, victorious in attaining the accolades an opportunity necessary to grow my musical career and country music to higher level.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My real name is Abiel Macias, I’m originally from the southwest Texas city of El Paso. My stage name, Abe Mac , came about as I am a former student – college athlete for the university of Texas at El Paso.
The former coaching staff at UTEP, blessed me with a nickname, Abe Mac.
What’s a name that means Hardwork, integrity, and love.
My head coach, Mike Price, harassed me my senior year, during Fall camp
To prepare a song for the team, as part of our team bonding meetings every evening after a long day of two a day practices. He gave me a day off to write a song called Saturday night lights.
Since in my career took off as a songwriter and music producer.
I I am absolutely passionate about creative arts in general. I love filming photography and writing so much that I’ve gotten involved in my first children’s Christmas book titled Christmas Snow and I have directed and produced all of my music videos, which you can see on YouTube or social media platforms.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the lessons I have had to endure was to learn how to rebuild and re-market yourself in the music business..
Often times the public does not understand how the music business works, and how record labels can drop an artist, and the artist is left out by themselves having to rebuild and retake their career.
Similar situation happened to me in 2016, we had a big independent music team working hard to attain a major record label deal.
The lack of clear communication and trust overtook our opportunity to sign with a major label directly to a failure.
Everything in the country music business or music business in general, has everything to do with demographics and marketability..
In a general analysis of a demographic and market ability for a Hispanic country artist during 2016, it deemed to be a high risk investment.
It is by any means a racial inequality type of situation, but rather what the market demographics is asking for.
The last famous major label artist with Hispanic roots had been Rick Trevino and Raul Malo with The Mavericks in the mid 1990’s.
I had to unlearn the lesson that there was a big demographic market that existed that the major record labels had a strong hold on.
Once I accept that, and did my own research Market analysis and found that there are smaller markets that I can target without the assistance of a major record label, I started noticing the profitability and success of putting up a smaller production for people that had the curiosity of Hispanic country artist and we’re seeking entertainment as such.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Finding a musical career as a lesson with development and growth the time.
Just like aging a wine or whiskey in a barrel, you have to look at musical artistry in the same fashion.
No one is just ready at one point in time to sing, and become a musical sensation and perform. It takes time to develop the artist into production and the value acid of being able to provide his or her style in the music.
The most important thing that I can share in finding this type of business is creating a buzz to which you will find fans that even your product.
But the key is these fans have to be successful entrepreneurs themselves that can help as a sponsor in your journey to elevate you to the next level and your development.
For me personally it undoubtedly has been the major part of my growth.
I’ve met great individuals that have had their success, and owning their own businesses that helped me invest in my own to create a bigger platform to which I was able to give them a return of investment, or in some scenarios, given them a piece of the experience of this musical career that they enjoy being part of.
