Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Abdullah Konte. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Abdullah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later?
So its funny cause I think about this all the time. I started my adult career in Accounting (graduated with an Accounting degree from the University of New Mexico) and never loved it, but always figured that was just a part of growing up. When I jumped into photography I realized that I should follow my passion and try to do what I love for living. It was a rough up and down journey which continuously led me to think how my life would have been if I started it earlier and to be honest I’m grateful for those years in Accounting. I don’t think I would have had the knowledge or mental strength to successfully create a photo business back when I was first out of college. Some the skills I learned through that time are so beneficial to me now which leads me to say (even though most find it corny) everything happens for a reason.

Abdullah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well I kind of fell in to photography by chance. I actually found myself in a state of depression in the year 2017 and realize I needed to climb myself out of it. I decided to take a trip out to visit my brother in the middle east and right before I went out I decided to buy a camera. I fell in love with taking photos that trip and I knew I found something special. When I got home I wanted to expand on that so I created an LLC and started doing photoshoots and taking photos and concert and sporting events. The more I did photography the less I wanted to do my full time job which lead me to take a chance on myself and here we are. I am most proud of the fact that I was able to make a name for myself. I’m so happy that I could be true to myself and make my own path

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Honestly, just being kind to others. I think that people enjoyed working with me because I genuinely just want us all involved to have a good time and a great experience. I’m pretty down to earth and I think that people know me as such so working with me feels like a more comfortable environment. I’d like people to remember more as a good person vs anything else.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding is when you people appreciate the chances a creative takes. As creatives we have to think outside the box, go against the grain. This is not as easy as it looks as not everyone understands your vision. But when those people do, it feels more rewarding than anything else.
