We were lucky to catch up with Abdull Albeloushi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Abdull, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think self-confidence is the key to being successful. Believing in yourself is the first step toward a successful path. Sometimes people put other people down and try to crush their dream but that’s just them projecting their lack of self-confidence and insecurities on others.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well, my name is Abdull, I run a food page called Tasty Delights MIA. I cover the food scene in Miami and other areas in South Florida. I started this page when I was about to start grad student (shoutout to FIU!! Go Panthers!!!) to practice social media marketing and implement what I learn in real life. I started being noticed by local restaurants in Miami which were amazing as I love food! they started reaching out to collaborate with having Tasty Delights MIA be part of their influencer marketing strategy and that is something I’m very proud of. I was able to collaborate with globally recognized brands such as Papa Johns, Ruth’s Steak, Steak N Shake, and many others!
I create content (photos and videos) for these brands and I share my experience trying their food or visiting a restaurant on my Instagram page.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Honestly, being consistent and active on social media is the most effective strategy. Keeping up with trends and learning from other foodies are definitely vital too. By networking with others and staying active I was able to stand out and be noticed. I got the chance to do other things, like have a small role in a telenovela. Social media can really open doors you never know who’s watching or who may come across your profile. Also, aside from grad school, I did take some online courses on LinkedIn and Coursera. I definitely encourage constant learning especially when it comes to social media there’s always a new trend or a new platform to learn.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I started I used to compare myself to others. I used to watch other foodies and their content and they’re all doing great I truly admire all of their content, but sometimes we tend to forget that this is just for fun, or at least how I see it. There’s no need to compare and get upset when you think your content is not where you want it to be. It’s ok it takes a little bit of time to master a skill, there’s always room for improvement. Enjoy the journey and every single step. Sometimes I go to Tasty Delights MIA and scroll all the way down to where I first started and I laugh at my content it wasn’t as horrible as I thought it was.
