We were lucky to catch up with Abdallah Seoud recently and have shared our conversation below.
Abdallah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I’ve been trying to define my purpose/mission for a long time. I always analyze myself, study my journey, observe how far I’ve come and where I want to go.
I realized that the greater purpose is, first of all, to be aligned with my essence and with the things I genuinely believe in. Then naturally I will be aligned with my mission.
Even though I have been living in the US for about 4 years, my content is still aimed at the audience that speaks my language, Portuguese. I believe that with all my experience of traveling and living in other countries, I can inspire, share knowledge and help other people’s journey with my story and my work.
Today I realize that through my photos, videos and educational content, I believe that I am very much in line with my mission and I am very happy.
Abdallah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
It’s nice to e-meet you. I’m passionate about telling stories, connecting people and brands through audiovisual.
Since before I was a little kid, I always had a camera in my hand. Whether it’s borrowed from a family member, friend… or the ones I begged to my parents for months to buy.
I’ve always been passionate about three things: Photography, videography and music industry. And I’ve been working and improving in all these areas all my life.
For a long time photography and video were treated as a hobby in my life, I’ve been a DJ since I was 12 years old, and even though I loved recording everything with photos and videos, I didn’t see it as a job until the first client actually show up and hire me.
Today I am a photographer and filmmaker, and I have been working professionally for about 10 years.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Design with an emphasis on Visual Communication from PUC-RIO. a degree in Design from California State University, Long Beach. Where I also learned a lot about the audiovisual universe, as well as knowledge about colors, aesthetics, strategic planning and much more. While still at university, I also graduated with an Additional Domain in Entrepreneurship and Marketing – PUC-RIO, which are areas that have always been present in my lifestyle and I have always had a natural interest in them.
And throughout my trajectory, I have accumulated some online courses and training in marketing, design, photography and video. I also continued my academic studies here in the United States, did a second degree in Marketing and another one in Graphic Design.
On my way, I’m having the opportunity to work with several brands and companies with global reach. I have already recorded for Canal Off, Documentary for Netflix, followed tours of international artists and also participated in many music videos. I also worked at Petco, at the time I was part of the video team for most of the commercials for Petco and other brands.
Today I invest in a video production business in San Diego, which have been my dream for years. I really want to make it grow and connect with people around the globe. I also want to have a dedicated time to support people and small business with our work.
I love traveling, making friends, and sharing experiences with like minded people. Let’s connect
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe a few things have helped me so far. I’ve always delivered everything I do with a lot of love and a lot of truth. I believe that when we do what we love and deliver with passion, people naturally connect with us and our work.
I’ve also always tried to deliver without expecting anything in return and I think this further reinforces my values and how people see me.
The third point is that I always try to evolve, both in my abilities and in my mental and emotional health. I study every day to become an excellent professional and a better person.
I think that all these points converge in a lot of quality and a lot of truth in what I deliver. And that naturally draws the attention of the people who follow me.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yup. I wish I had discovered the power of delegating tasks sooner and focusing on what needs me most at the moment. I’ve always been a perfectionist and that ended up getting in my way at times. I like to do everything the best way possible and for a long time I ended up believing that the best way to do that was to accumulate responsibilities. Over the years, I started to delegate more, trust more when I outsource a task and the results have pleased me a lot. That way I also learn a lot and also have more free time to focus where I really need to. Now I have more time to be creative.
