Abby, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
As a Travel Advisor, I found this question intriguing. My role is to assist clients in selecting a great resort / destination that will fit their needs. While I do take vacations myself, my vacations look different from my clients.
As a travel advisor, we have more opportunities to Travel, allowing us to test various destinations. However, when I am on Vacation, it is not solely for leisure. I take detailed notes about the resort, document everything through photos, and stay responsive to emergency client emails.
Overall, it’s an incredible opportunity. Balancing a bit of work on vacation is manageable when your “office” comes with a sunny day and the breathtaking view of a beautiful blue ocean.

My name is Abby Dobson and I am a Travel Advisor specializing in destination weddings and honeymoons for Canadian clients. I create memorable travel experiences that align with my clients’ wants and needs. I believe in personalized service, taking the time to understand each couple’s unique vision to recommend the perfect destinations and resorts.
From the initial consultation to the final destination. I prioritize clear communication, thorough research, and a genuine passion for creating great memories. I strive to ensure that every detail, from the ambiance of the location to the amenities offered, contributes to an amazing romantic getaway. My goal is always to go above and beyond, so my clients can focus on enjoying their special time together without worry.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
One of the most valuable things you can do is show genuine care for your clients. Many businesses thrive on word-of-mouth and recommendations to stay competitive and sustain growth. Demonstrating authentic care and commitment to your clients not only strengthens their trust but also creates lasting relationships that benefit your business in the long run.

How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner, Kim Machan, holds a special place in my life not only professionally but personally, as she is also my mom. With patience and dedication, she guided me through the industry, teaching me how to navigate resources, identify the best resorts, and make thoughtful, client-focused recommendations. I am so grateful for her support and the knowledge she has passed down, which has been a big factor in my growth and success.
