We were lucky to catch up with Abbria Hoover recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Abbria , thanks for joining us today. We’ve love to hear an interesting investment story – what was one of the best or worst investments you’ve made? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
My best investment so far as a business owner has been coaching! Honestly, being on IG and seeing everyone claim to be an expert and charge pretty high prices to gain access truly made me hesitate to invest in education and/or courses. However, I felt pulled to grow and you cannot do that without additional education and access. Despite popular belief and unfortunately there are some things that Google doesn’t know the answer to.
So I found a coach that I knew for a fact was an expert and had worked in the styling field for quite some time with a ton of actual receipts. After working together for about 6 weeks there was already a significant difference in my business and mindset towards my business as a whole. The lesson from this for me was to find the right coach, invest and take the leap!

Abbria , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Abbria Hoover and I am a stylist in the Atlanta area. Although I have clients all over the US. I specialize in curating wardrobes for busy business women who value style and what it can do to elevate your business, brand and overall life. I became a stylist full-time in 2014 and began as a wedding stylist. In fact the name of my business then was The Wedding Stylist. I helped brides create their dream look for their big day. During this journey I started to assist wedding planners with their style and absolutely fell in love with it! Seeing women feeling comfortable in their skin, commanding respect and walking in rooms full of confidence is addicting! So I transitioned my business to LifestyledbyAbbria and started to focus more on brand styling. I have been doing that since 2019 and I am truly looking forward to seeing how many women I can assist along their style journeys!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I don’t have one particular story that demonstrates my resilience. But I do believe that being an entrepreneur or running a business that you started or run daily is a sure sign of resilience. A lot of people state that they become entrepreneurs so they can take their time back. But the truth is I spend more time working as an entrepreneur than I ever did at my 9-5. I’m sure any solo-preneur would agree. I want to quit several times a day ! But then I get a new client, or receive a love note from an old one and I get the “fire” I need to keep pushing through.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had a different view on coaching, community and education in the beginning of my career. Styling is one of the fields that you need no formal education for. It’s also very opinion based and there are not a lot of guidelines , rules or people who came before you that are willing to share. So when I got started I really only had myself to consult. If I knew then what I know now I would’ve looked for “my people”. The ones that truly value community over competition, people who want to lift and build teams and relationships. They do exist and now that I have them I know for sure I would’ve been further in my career had a found or looked sooner.
