We recently connected with Abbie Guthier and have shared our conversation below.
Abbie, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
Here at Studio O, we are proud to do things a little differently, and intentionally so. While many venues simply offer a space and a rental agreement, we believe in making events at Studio O MORE. One of the things that sets us apart is our approach to full event design.
Clients may initially come to us because they need a place to host their event, but we are also here if they need addtional help. We pride ourselves on our ability listen and execute on the fact that they want their events to feel effortless, thoughtful, and be memorable. Whether they’re planning a baby shower, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, or something in between, we step in as partners in their event design. From the moment someone books with us, we’re a resource or dreaming alongside them, by offering styling ideas, curating custom decor, sourcing linens, designing florals, even supplying entertainment (think flower bars and watercolors!), and even capturing their time with our in-house photography and videography.
One of my favorite examples of this is a recent garden-party intimate wedding where the client came in with the simplest prompt: “Make it feel whimsical and floral, like you’re walking into a garden.” That was it. No Pinterest board, no detailed plan. We proposed in custom centerpieces, greenery hanging instillations from our in-house floral team, layered textures and patterns with linens, and even created personalized menus, place settings, and tiny golden fireflies guests could take with them to commemorate the evening as a favor. The client’s only job that day was to walk in, enjoy, and celebrate—and that’s exactly what we love to offer.
This level of hands-on service isn’t the norm for most event spaces, but it’s become the heart of what we do. We exist for the people who want something beautiful, but don’t have the time or vision to pull it all together. We meet them there, and we take care of it all; so they can show up, feel taken care of, and soak in these milestone moments we cherish celebrating alongside them here at Studio O.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! I’m Abbie, the owner of Studio O, an intimate event space in the heart of Covington, KY. I’m also the founder of OKOTA, a wedding design company that specializes in photography, videography, floral design, and stationery. I studied graphic design and photography at Xavier University, and what started as a creative passion evolved into a business that now serves clients through two sister brands: OKOTA for wedding days, and Studio O for all of life’s milestones beyond.
Studio O started when our sister brand OKOTA, a wedding design company, needed to evolve into a bigger, more functional home base. We were looking for a space that could better support our wedding clients with a designated area for meetings and consultations, a more comfortable environment to assemble our floral designs, and a space that could easily transform into a photography studio. We found a building in the heart of Covington, KY that needed a lot of work, but it was the perfect shell. We could envision office space on the upper floors and everything we needed on the main level.
Very quickly after moving in, we started receiving interest from our OKOTA couples who wanted to use the main floor for their wedding-related events like bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, engagement parties, and even a space to get ready on their wedding day. And just like that, Studio O was born. What started as a functional extension of our wedding business quickly became a gathering place for life’s most meaningful milestones. Our past brides now return to celebrate baby showers, birthdays, and all the sweet moments in between.
We love that this space has become a home for so many joyful chapters. It is a building constantly filled with laughter, love, hugs, and celebration.
I’m so proud that we get to facilitate these moments of connection and joy. If there is one thing I want people to know, it is that we care deeply about your event. Not just how it looks, but how it feels and how it feels to plan. It should not be stressful, overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to bring your celebration to life. At Studio O, we are not just creating pretty tablescapes. We are creating meaningful experiences that reflect who you are and the people you love most. We do not just offer a space. We offer peace of mind, beauty with purpose, and a celebration you can actually enjoy.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
One of the most special parts of what I do through both OKOTA and now Studio O, is the relationships I build with my clients. From the very beginning, I’ve always cared about more than just the wedding day itself. I care about the people. I get to walk alongside couples during such a meaningful season, and that connection doesn’t just disappear after the last dance. In fact, some of the most rewarding moments come long after the wedding, when those same couples reach back out for their next milestone, whether it’s a baby shower, a birthday party, or just wanting to support me as they’ve watched my businesses grow.
That kind of continued support means the world to me. It’s a reminder that this work isn’t only about creating something beautiful for them, but maintaing a beautiful planning process they can look back on and remember as a time of love and fun and in turn I have become someone they trust with their most cherished milestones. It’s not lost on me how special it is when a past bride emails me years later saying, “We want to come back to you for this next big moment in our family’s story.” I’ve had clients celebrate their wedding with OKOTA, then return to Studio O for their baby shower, and newborn and family photos. Those full-circle moments are everything.
I keep in touch by showing up consistently and genuinely. Whether it’s checking in after their wedding, sending a little note on their anniversary, or celebrating their baby news on Instagram, I want my clients to know I’m still here cheering them on. And I think when people feel truly seen and cared for, that’s what builds real loyalty. Not just in business, but in life.
Studio O has created a natural way to keep those connections going beyond the wedding day. It’s become a space where life continues to be celebrated, and I love that our couples feel like they can come back to us again and again. That’s exactly the kind of brand loyalty that can’t be manufactured. It’s built through trust, heart, and truly being there for people as they grow.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for new clients is always referrals from past clients! We love it when someone books the space because they, or someone they know, are working with me already under the OKOTA brand. Or they have attended a celebration at Studio O in the past and really enjoyed their time here. Or they have hosted an event themselves here and now hopefully have a place in their heart for Studio O, now associated with wonderful celebrations of past family milestones and want to come back! We love referrals and return guests!!
