Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to AB (abi) Espinoza Montero . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi AB (abi), thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I have always loved art, since I can remember, I was drawn to Music and Films, obsessing over the lengthy process of writing and creating movies and music. I didn’t know exactly how I was gonna achieve a career being creative and being involved in the Arts but I always knew that was my end goal and I was never gonna let go of that Dream. I arrived in the US at very early age and I can say that my experiences as an Immigrant and hardships I endured have only fueled me even more. Music and Art were always my escapes but ultimately grounded me more than ever. I have a desire to be involved with my community, to uplifting others and to grow together. Through all my experiences Music and Art have always been the best tool to aid in self expression and in freeing and healing the soul. Our communities need Art and expression more than ever.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Music and Art are in my blood. With Nature setting the most beautiful scenes and music decorating time, I am engulfed in art. As a Photographer I see myself as a historian, documenting my surroundings and the beauty of being alive. I feel a sense of responsibility to harbour all things beautiful, to work together with my community as a collective to uplift each other. I created All Kinds Studio to better be able to bring all of my wishes into fruition, I wanted to create a center of collaboration. A space where all creatives can come together and help one another create Art, Music, Events, etc. All Kinds initially began as an Art Workspace lending our studio to photographers and artists to create and store art but we knew that our space could do so much more. I had many talented Musician friends who needed a space to create, record and showcase their music. We began hosting local live music events helping many bands expand their reach. Touring bands from all over the country and all over the world have added All Kinds to their tours. And we soon enough found ourselves living up to our name, helping and creating All Kinds of art for everyone to see and Enjoy. We vow to continue our mission and expand our reach to better help and assist artists everywhere.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect for me is seeing my community together in a cause. It’s boosts my morale and motivates me to keep going when I see everyone together helping someone up off the floor while they’re all Moshing, seeing everyone dancing to their favorite bands performing live in our studio or hearing an artist receive praise for their incredible artwork during a gallery. We only thrive when our community is thriving and we want to invite everyone to join us.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I believe our society needs to invest in programs that better fund our communities and invest in artists themselves. The arts are very important, every happy equal society has allowed art and music to thrive, the best form of human expression goes back a millennia, to the inception of our species. It’s pivotal to our existence. Creating programs that allow artist to create and communities to gather, express and decompress from all the stresses of life is ultimately necessary. Not only is art and music therapeutic it’s is also scientifically proven to strengthen our neuroplasticity. We need Art and Music, it’s a part of all of us.
