Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aaron Soto. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aaron, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
For twelve years, I had dedicated myself to working at a church, immersing myself in every role that came my way. I poured my heart into building and empowering teams, fostering a culture of excellence. Despite my efforts, there were moments when I felt like an elephant squeezed into a tuna can—full of potential but confined by limitations. I was doing what I know is my calling, but the path forward was often shrouded in uncertainty.
As time went on, the choice became inevitable: should I continue down this path or make a change? The decision was agonizing. Leaving behind a decade of blood, sweat, tears, and countless sacrifices felt like ripping away a piece of myself. Friendships made in the tough times, countless hours of effort, and the very essence of my professional identity were up in the air.
The weight of this choice was huge, especially as a husband and father. My family relied on my income for stability, making the thought of stepping away from a steady paycheck even more scary. Yet, in the face of these fears, I chose the harder path—a step into the unknown. I left behind everything I had built and decided to bet on myself, and on God. It reminded me of the story of Peter in the Bible, who walked on water with Jesus. Though it didn’t seem humanly possible, Peter took the risk, knowing that as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he could defy the odds. And he did. He took the step and walked on water.
I went into a new world: joining a touring act as a musician and starting my own business, Creative Purpose. The shift was monumental in my life. Every day, I faced new challenges and uncertainties, but also new opportunities. The risk paid off. Over a year later, I’ve not only found success but have also kept my passion. My favorite part of this journey is collaborating with others to turn their visions into reality.
Breaking free from the tuna can allowed me to use my giftings in a bigger way, all while continuing to provide for my family. My risk transformed my life and showed me that sometimes, the hardest decisions lead to the most rewarding outcomes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My journey into music began at the age of 10, a time when it quickly became more than just a hobby—it consumed my life. I eagerly learned as many instruments as I could, and the intricacies of music theory fascinated me. It wasn’t just the emotional satisfaction that drew me in, but the intellectual challenge and depth of understanding it offered. This passion for learning and problem-solving extended beyond music, shaping my approach to life and work.
Growing up in the church, I was deeply invested in its mission and eager to contribute to something greater than myself. I started volunteering at 10, playing guitar in kids’ services, and my dedication led me to learn all the instruments on the stage—from guitar and bass to drums, piano, and brass. By 21, my commitment was recognized, and I was hired as the Music Director at the church I was attending.
My success in building effective teams and fostering a culture of excellence as the Music Director led to further opportunities. I was promoted to Technical Director, overseeing live production and media, and soon after to Marketing Director, where I managed event marketing, graphics, videography, and photography. Each role allowed me to create structure and drive excellence. Ultimately, I was appointed Arts Director, where I combined my expertise across music, production, and marketing departments to bring a holistic approach to creative and artistic expression within the church.
Behind the scenes, I also collaborated with administrative departments to develop systems for project management, event management, in-house IT services, database management, and system implementation. By the time I decided to move on, I had gained substantial experience and earned respect for my knowledge and the tangible results I had achieved.
I love sitting down with pastors, business owners, creative leaders, volunteers, and managers to teach how to be effective in so many different ways. It may be a simple question or a deep dive into “how should we do this?”. Creative and purposeful solutions, and mentorship are are the heartbeat of Creative Purpose.
Today, I channel this extensive experience into my venture, Creative Purpose. I work with churches and businesses to bring their visions to life, offering services in production, worship, marketing, system implementation, creative consultation, and mentorship. My approach is deeply personalized—I embed myself in each client’s vision, ensuring that the solutions I provide are tailored specifically to their unique needs. I don’t offer cookie-cutter results because I believe that every vision, purpose, and voice is unique. My goal is to help you make the most out of your unique vision and goals.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Creatives love to feel like others understand them. Whether it be a painting, or a plate of food, we love to see people enjoy, connect, and understand our creation. For us creatives, our expression being respected and understood is likely the most rewarding aspect.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I want to help people get the most out of their investments—whether it’s a poster, a camera, a staff member, a song, or an efficient system. Just like I strive to make the best use of my own resources to be effective, I’m passionate about helping others do the same. My goal is to ensure that every investment is maximized and brings the greatest possible benefit. Another mission is to allow me to speak into others lives and teach them how to handle church ministry, or just be on of the biggest assets to an organization.
