We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aaron Shriver. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aaron below.
Aaron, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The story behind my mission is simply my love and passion for music. Like many music fans, I appreciate the artistry and the story behind a song. I love capturing the essence of an artist when they are on stage performing their music. I want to be the person to be the whole package for an artist. I love supporting new and upcoming artist who needs support in music media and being that person to work with them within their element to help bring their vision to a larger platform.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Aaron Shriver and I work in music media in the Chicago/Milwaukee area. I am an artist and concert photographer and manage a music media website and podcast. I have a degree in marketing and radio broadcasting. I have a true love and passion for music. I appreciate the artistry and love to capture that in both photography as well in interview form. I have been attending concerts my entire life and have been independently doing anything I can to stay around music growing up. I believe music is good for the soul and it has an important place in the world. What I do is not a job for me it truly is a passion. I am most proud of the relationships I have built with artists and the teams working with them. It is a community of like-minded genuine individuals that has welcomed me with open arms, and I am truly grateful. I am a fan of the singer-songwriter and enjoy giving them a platform to be able to showcase their talents and tell their stories to others. I travel from Chicago to Nashville and stop in various places in between to capture media content for various artists. What sets me apart is that I am independent and will do whatever I can to make my client excited about the content I provide them. I am a huge supporter of the artist and continuously support artists in all areas of my business.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My passion for photography and music media really took off in September 2019. I decided to start my podcast and do concert photography as a hobby for around 6 months. I had some great people in my corner who really supported what I was doing, and my wife encouraged me to live my lifelong dream and quit my 9-5 and begin to pursue this full-time. I work 7 days a week and all hours of the day and I have been able to create something that I can say I am truly proud of. I have not made it “financially profitable” yet, but I have been able to meet some amazing people, and had some wonderful opportunities. and I am creating great memories. My business is highly reliable on networking and word of mouth and that has been a great thing for me. I give my all for everyone I work with, and I believe it shows. My clients, guests have been so kind in sharing my name and business with others and it is slowly gaining momentum. Rome was not built in a day, and I am confident that we will continue to grow and be able to work with more amazing people in the future.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Gaining new clients is definitely something that I rely heavily on through word of mouth and networking. Many people that I know/or have worked with are able to show my work and use their experience with me to introduce me to others. It truly has been a blessing that the people in the community and clients have supported me and my business.
