Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aaron Sharp. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Aaron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
One of the biggest trends going on right now in the creative industry is the rise of short form video. From TikTok, Instagram reels, Youtube shorts, and various other platforms, short form video has taken social media and even commercial media by storm. This has created so many opportunities for people who want to create “content” with something as simple as their smartphone. The concerns I have come from how this content has been prioritized. If creators or artists of any sort want to grow an audience or gain any sort of voice over their art, they have been forced to create short form video in order to promote themselves. This leaves photographers, painters, digital artists, graphic designers, even film makers, and so many other artists in a hard spot to be able to grow their business that is completely unrelated. Another concerning part is for someone like me, who primarily works in still photography, in a position where I am less likely to be needed by businesses for media because their primary focus are these video assets.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Aaron Sharp. I am a commercial lifestyle and sports photographer. With that being my main focus, I dabble in most other forms of photography as well. I do studio product/still life photography, portraiture, and landscapes. I got into sports photography some what naturally. My first job out of college was with a start up fitness apparel company, primarily based in Crossfit. That soon lead to me chasing after other sports and falling in love with balancing the world of sport and art.
A lot of the problems I solve for most clients are dealing with marketing and branding. I spend time with clients to discuss what they are looking for and the vision of their brand or client. This gives me the opportunity to approach my shoots with that information in mind, and I can add my creativity as an outside source to bring a totally new perspective to their product or service. I emphasize my love for fine art and print work, and bring it into the world of sports and even brand work. This gives my work a tangible feel throughout all the stills I deliver to clients and brings a unique perspective and stillness to some of the most dynamic things humans can do.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come from when I first started as a.commercial photographer and the learning I have been able to do in the situations I’ve found myself in. I can’t preach enough how important it is to always be willing to learn.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is doing your passion for a living and also the community you build doing so.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Most of my clients come from word of mouth and growing my clientele comes down to simply being meticulous, detail oriented, and mixing that quality of work with being personable and building connections with my clients. Building relationships is arguably the most important part of my job and retains clients just as well as it grows clients.
