Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aaron Justice. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aaron, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Being a Christian, my main mission is to spread the wonderful news of the gospel. Mark 16:15 says, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.” Now, I’m no preacher, but I do spread the wonderful news of Jesus Christ in the way that God has called me to do so, which is through my songs and my testimony.
Why this is so meaningful to me is because there is a world full of hurting people looking for answers. And what happens is when people get desperate for answers, they start looking for them in all the wrong places. They may find temporary joy and fulfilment, but it’s nothing like the joy that Jesus gives; A joy that can’t be taken away. God has called me to use my music to reach the brokenhearted, the lost, the addict, the alcoholic, the outcast, and the hopeless. I am here to go to those who would otherwise never step foot inside a church and let them know that they are loved, they have a purpose, and that God has a plan for their lives. I write songs based on trials that I have faced and how God has always been there to get me through them, which people can relate to. I am able to travel, sing these songs, tell my testimony, and get on their level so that they know God can rescue them out of whatever pit they’ve fallen in. This is why my mission is so meaningful to me. I know what God has done for me, and I know what he can do for others.
Aaron, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Christian singer/songwriter out of Tennessee. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Ashley, for 15 years, and we have an amazing 14 year old son named Aidan. I currently work full time as a Chiropractic Assistant (CA) and am continuing education in that field in order to be able to perform other job duties. I am also on the worship team at our church. So, on top of having a family, a full time job, continuing education, and being involved on the worship team, I also write songs and travel different places to sing. I stay fairly busy.
How I got into being a Christian singer/songwriter is a long story, but I’ll break it down. When I was 16, my parents divorced and a few short months after that my papaw passed away, who I was very close to. I spent a lot of time alone after my mom left because my dad would have to work extra shifts in order to pay bills. This sent me spiraling into a deep depression with thoughts of suicide. I remember sitting in my room just strumming random chords on my guitar, which turned into a melody that shortly after turned into a song. That song is called, “All I Need.” A lot of times it takes getting to the point where God is all we have to realize he is all we need. That’s what, “All I Need,” is about. If it wasn’t for God and music, I don’t know where I would be today. It was in that moment when God called me to write these songs about how he turned my tragedy into triumph and share them with others who are facing hard times themselves. People need to know there is still hop for them no matter what they’ve done in the past, and Jesus is that hope.
What I want followers to know about me is, one, that I am not perfect, and I will be the first to admit it. I still mess up. There are areas in my life that God is still working on. They need to know that they don’t have to have it all figured out before they come to Jesus. Secondly, I have a huge heart for people. I love people and I want them to know that. I also want them to know that God loves them. That’s why I have never charged a set price when I travel to play my songs and share my testimony. I know when God leads me somewhere he will provide, and he hasn’t failed me yet. Lastly, I want listeners to feel encouraged and I want them to experience what Jesus can do for them when they hear my music.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a Christian singer/songwriter is when a song or maybe even just one line of a song resonates with someone and they give their life to Jesus Christ. Knowing that God can use one of my songs to help lead people to him never ceases to amaze me. That’s what it’s all about.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have been writing songs, traveling, and singing for quite a while now. I can remember several times just wanting to give up because I felt like everything I was doing was going nowhere. I even told myself that I was going to quit, but God would lay another song idea on my heart. I guess that was His way of saying he’s not finished with me yet. It has taken a lot of prayer and time in God’s Word to keep me on track with why I do what I do. Philippians 1:6 states, “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.” I know what God has started within me, he will complete as long as I remain obedient to him. My faith in Jesus is the only thing that has continued to help push me forward.
