We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aaron Isaac Vasquez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron Isaac, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Ever since I can remember, filmmaking was always around me. My grandfather and uncle would make indie films, and I’d either be right there on set, wanting to help however I could, or just mesmerized watching them create. I remember going to the theater to see Indiana Jones for the first time – I was completely captivated by the story, the action, the thrills, and that unforgettable score. It was an experience that stayed with me, and that’s when I knew I wanted to tell my own stories.
From that moment, I felt this undeniable passion for storytelling, not just through writing but also by acting in them. I started making my own little films, experimenting and learning. As I got older, my love for filmmaking grew stronger, and I knew I wanted to pursue it professionally. Before the pandemic, I had always harbored a passion for screenwriting, but life often got in the way. When the pandemic hit, leaving me with fewer distractions, I seized the opportunity to dive back into writing. This experience not only reignited my passion but also solidified my determination to make screenwriting, directing, and producing my lifelong career.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I grew up on a steady diet of horror and suspense, which definitely influenced my style. That dark, moody vibe has shaped my work over the years.
These days, I’m mostly focused on writing, directing, producing as well as graphic design, creating film posters, and putting together pitch decks that capture a project’s heart and soul. I even do film scores here and there! For me, it’s all about telling a story that hits deep. My goal isn’t just to make something look good; I want it to feel real, to have a kind of intensity that sticks with you.
I’m proud of the range that I bring. With experience across design, illustration, and film, I able to adapt to different projects while keeping that cohesive, dark edge. My work is all about storytelling with depth and mood, creating visuals that resonate on a deeper level.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to use my voice to bring attention to characters who are usually unseen and unheard. Being Latino, I feel strongly about diversity and inclusion, so whenever I’m telling a story, that’s always front and center. There aren’t many people who look like me in positions to tell stories, and I want to change that by making sure my work reflects the world in a way that feels real and representative.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has been a slow and steady process. I’ve focused on being myself, sharing my aesthetic, and connecting with others who vibe with the same style. I believe in supporting other artists and building genuine connections, so I’ve always prioritized networking and collaborating over just pushing content. Over time, it’s grown naturally through following other creatives and having real conversations about our shared interests.
For anyone just starting out, I’d say don’t rush it. Be authentic, support others, and make connections that go beyond the “like” button. If you focus on building a community around what you genuinely love, people will respond to that.
