We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aaron Chaz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aaron below.
Aaron , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Growing I thought I was no good at art, after failing (to myself) at duplicating a drawing my mother made of a cartoon dog.
I purposely avoided the field throughout my grade school years opting for other classes whenever possible, thus my path into art was sort of a mix between random and meant to be.
At a really stressful part of my life (I hardly like to speak of cause it’s like a PTSD trigger lol), I would scribble in a notebook to shift my focus away from my failures. Eventually those scribbles turned into poems, drawings and later paintings.
Once I started to share these works and associated vulnerabilities on Instagram, it was a surprise to see people resonate in the ways they did. Only a few months into sharing my art, I sold a few paintings for the first time, which lead into shows, and the expansion of my practice.
The journey which lead me into art, and the fact that it’s a process that both challenges and fulfills me, has made me want to pursue it professionally. I also have endless ideas and art gives me the ability to get them out creatively and efficiently.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Aaron Chaz, Art, for me, is a response to struggle—a way to transform doubt, frustration, and complexity into something tangible. My creative process began as raw, overlapping scribbles, a cathartic attempt to quiet the noise within. Over time, these marks revealed images, ideas, and poems, leading me to explore deeper modes of self-expression.
Through painting, poetry, and immersive concepts, I challenge perceptions and provoke thought. My work is about finding meaning in chaos, questioning the familiar, and capturing the emotional weight of experience. Each piece is an extension of my need for freedom—freedom to create, to reflect, and to redefine my reality.
By sharing my work, I invite viewers to engage in their own introspection, to see beyond the surface, and to connect with the vulnerabilities and triumphs woven into each creation.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
During the summer of 2022 I realized that I shouldn’t wait around for open calls and gallery opportunities, rather I should create my own shots to expand my audience and get my art experienced on a regular basis.
My idea was to curate exhibits from the various pieces I had in my studio and head to various locations around the city (with a main hub at Central Park) doing “pop up galleries”. The pop-ups would consist of 6-8 original paintings spaced out to give a gallery feel.
My thought was the average gallery sees most their foot traffic during show openings and in a single day, in the right location, I can show to nearly 10x as many people. These shows were a success in many ways accumulating to new followers, sales of “mystery drawings”, and rarely an original painting at my full asking price…
Throughout the process though many days were met with return, there were days it seemed my work and myself were invisible to those passing by. A truly humbling experience. Art is generally a field of resilience, it’s constant problem solving and sticking in there through the waves. Creating the work is only a layer of the process, it takes much more to continuously will yourself forward.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is when a person is standing in front of your work really contemplating and thinking about it.
I feel it’s important to make work that is engaging, grabs and holds viewers. The experience of art should be long lasting and even shifting based on moods and even time of day, so I find that most rewarding.
