We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aaron Bookhart. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aaron below.
Aaron , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
In life we have to take risk. My biggest risk was me pursuing a career in acting. This was something I knew I wanted to do since I was kid. However, I didn’t start truly pursuing acting until I was 26. Initially I didn’t have much support but the people who believed in me kept pushing me. Early this year I was living in a hotel while saving up for the Launch Showcase in Chicago. I also was in school finishing up my A.A degree and working on a movie. I knew in order to be successful that I was going to risk some relationships with friends and family. Also, that there was a chance that I could be homeless at that time if I was short on room. I had to pretty much grind every day for about 5 months before I saved up enough for the showcase, an apartment, and my way to Chicago. There were a lot of obstacles that came my way. At times I wanted to give up but I realized that I risked to much to quit. My dreams started to fight for me. This is when I realized that I’m finally on the right path. To anyone that has doubts about taking risks on your dreams, if you’re willing to work hard and stay dedicated, then take a shot at your dreams.
Aaron , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The first opportunity I got acting was in 2021. The previous year I met a friend that was passionate about film in my Acting class. His father is a director and I had the opportunity to audition for his film (The Doctor’s Office 2023). I got casted as Willie Earl, the antagonists of the movie. We’re still filming so I won’t go into depth about it. For me everytime that I practice or rehearse for a scene I make sure my energy level is always. I’m always open to learn more and mold my craft. My passion, determination, and ability to thrive under pressure help me stand out. I’m proud of myself because for once in my life I feel like I’m in my element. I still have a ways to go before I can say that I’m great. However, I’m willing to put in the work and become the best version of me. I thank everyone for their support! Stay motivated, stay strong, go Beast Mode!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
As I’m following my dreams, my mission is to help others believe in themselves. My success is bigger than me, I want to open doors for people the same way others have for me. I’ve always had an uphill battle on my journey but I found a way to make it happen. There’s a lot of people out there that can make the world better, they just have to believe in themselves. If anyone is doubting themselves, just know I believe in you! Keep pushing! You got this!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of acting is that I’m doing what I love. I can help tell a story while I’m a portraying a character. Acting is therapeutic to me. The more I’m able to perform the more rewarding acting gets.
