We were lucky to catch up with Aaron Allen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aaron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
I have a few years ago, I decided to fully join the fight against mental health negligence, after being in and out of the mental health cycle for ten years, and being a victim of false admitting myself. in the mental health world patients are beaten, verbally abused and starved. I went to Lakeview Behavioral which was in the news in 2019. Last the abuse numbers have sky rocketed from 2013 and it went mostly unnoticed for years and now i plan to shed light on my own Mental health negligence situation along with the world problem of it as well with my new Documentary releasing this fall of 2023 called “Wrongfully Admitted”.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a Author and Actor they were to interesting but different ways i got into the industry of book publishing and acting. In 2015 i published my first book called “My Mind: The Journey through love and the rest”. then for a few years i was helping other people publish their own books or i would help them write it as well if needed. Next in about 2017 i was asked by a comedian and actor friend to be in his film project called “A mil wit a Key” set to release soon. So in all this I work with film and book writing and also other forms of writings like sceenplays and poetry as well. I am proud of the people that support my work and who are involded literally and not just from the sidelines. I see alot of people who ask me to be apart of the great movement but never follow through. So mostly i am proud of the great actors, directors and writers who have worked with me a helped us get to where we are now.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think the keys are focus and consistency to build your reputation in your market. The term “Market” is a term that focuses on the specific place of where and when to sell a product, so in my mind after college and learning business techniques, i always go to where i know my work will sell the most and get the most exposure. So for example i am a poet author so i would stay relevant and grow my reputation the most in the in cafe’s and bookstores. This Process is the first step i took and from their the interest in my book and sales grew. Also for film i was consistant in growing the market by consistantly taking a few film parts to have people see me acting without a audition. This helped my resume as a actor grow.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
the goal is the success of myself and my people around me. We work together, we eat together. Simple
