Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aaron Akins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Aaron, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

One of my most recent meaningful projects was writing, composing and singing a song titled ” When Do We Love ” featuring none other than Walter and Scotty of The Legendary Soul group, THE WHISPERS.

The journey that lead to their involvement is one I’ll never forget. It all begin when I was performing at the world-renowned Catalina jazz club in Hollywood.

As fate would have it, Walter and Scotty were in the audience that night. After the show, they made their way over to congratulate me.

Their first guestion was did I write the final song of the set. I proudly replied that I had.
What happened next felt like magic. They looked at me, and said ” God wrote that song “.

In that moment, I was inspired to ask them if they would consider singing on the track. To my amazement, they said yes-and the rest, as they say, is history.

Aaron, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

When I was around eight years old, I used to sing while playing in front of my house. One day, a famous singing group called Heaven and Earth, who lived across the street, overheard me. They validated my singing talent, which planted a seed in me -though it was one I wouldn’t fully nurture until much later.

It wasn’t until I declared my major in college that I truly embraced my musical path. I formed a band with Darryl Jones the bass player who now plays with The Rolling Stones. I majored in music and went on to become a professional Vocalist, songwriter and composer.

You can hear one of my songs ” I just wanna luv u, ” in the movie Black Butterfly starring Antonio Banderas, available on Prime Video, I wrote, composed and performed the song. Another one of my songs, ” What the world needs, ” is featured in the film This Sucks produced by Tequila Mockingbird Productions, and available on Tubi. The film was directed by Cameron A. Mitchell.

What sets me apart, I believe is my passion for bringing the whole world together through love. I want people to know that I absolutely love what I do, and I wish for everyone to find something they love just as much.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

I hadn’t been in Los Angeles long after moving from Chicago, and at the time, landing a record label was much harder. So, I got creative, I took my middle name and my mother’s maiden name, and under that alias, I became the Director of Promotions for my own record label-promoting myself as the artist.

As the Director of Promotions, I would call radio stations on behalf of the label. Without a team, l handled everything on my own. The first single I ever recorded was picked up by a radio station in South Carolina, and from there, the rest is history.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

The mission behind my creative journey has always been to create a song that makes a vast number of people pause and reflect on something truly meaningful.

I believe I’ve finally achieved that with my latest release in 2024. The song is called ” When Do We Love ” featuring Walter and Wallace Scott of the legendary soul group, The Whispers.
