We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aaro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Aaro, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
There’s no short answer for this… we all know life is full of so many ups and downs! There’s been a lot of extreme highs and lows throughout my career but at the end of the day I’m so grateful and blessed to be able to channel it all through my music. I have always had such an undying passion for the art of making songs and I’m so happy to have music be the driving force in my life. Growing up I had a delusional level of self belief and I still won’t let nobody tell me nothing when it comes to what I can achieve.. 😤 I love being a creative and I honestly couldn’t live without it…plus I’ve been fired from more jobs than most people even get hired for in their lives 😂 I wasn’t made to work for someone else’s dream (unless we writing it into existence in the studio) 🎶 I will say I am envious of people who lead a “normal” life or don’t have extravagant dreams. Those that are satisfied with their job and get to go home to their family every day, that’s a type of peace that I’ve had to sacrifice. But I wouldn’t change it, that’s just not the hand God dealt for me. The short answer is yes and yes 🤣
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Music is in my 🩸 🩸 🩸 From a young age I was playing piano and smashing the drums. By about 2003, at 12 years old, I got into making HipHop/RnB/Pop beats and experimenting with audio production. I wasn’t no prodigy but I was in love with it and just pushed myself to improve every day. A few years after high-school I put myself through audio school. It wasn’t until 2017 that I launched my studio, label, and music business and Lucid Vibes Entertainment was born. Although I had been making music and performing for several years, my career as an artist started commercially in 2018 and a year later I was living full-time off music money between my own gigs, audio work at local venues, and helping artists and clients around the world with studio services like production, audio engineering, songwriting, and artist development. Fast forward to today and I’ve worked with Raekwon (Wu Tang Clan),, Merkules (Death Row Records), Afroman, Dax, and so many more talented artists. I’ve had work published in Rolling Stone India and produced and written songs and music videos that have won awards with platforms such as Los Angeles Cinematography Awards, New York Movie Awards, Milan Gold Awards, and a handful more. It’s crazy when I think about it!!! I think what sets me apart is my unique sound and desire to let the best idea win. I try to take an unbiased approach to my clients’ projects to make it the best it can possibly be and push everyone in the room to be the greatest most authentic version of themselves. I put years of sleepless nights into the many facets of the music industry like music production, songwriting, audio engineering, and more so I don’t look back on my life one day and wish I had done more. My main passion lies in the studio and on stage. If you’re an artist or producer and just finding out about me hit me up @itsaaro and I’ll give you an exclusive CanvasRebel deal on your first track with Lucid Vibes 🔮😏
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I would have to say my goal always started from just a pure passion for music. Once I really looked at it like, “damn, I should make a living out of this.”, it came down to my “Why” and that’s been about providing for my loved ones and inspiring them to chase whatever wild vision they had for themselves but were perhaps too afraid to pursue. Really, I just want to inspire people everywhere through freedom of expression and creativity and bring a deeper connection into peoples lives. The best advice I ever got was “just f***ing do it.”… Go for whatever “it” is to you. Even if you don’t feel ready, you’ll make mistakes, inevitably fail, and learn along the way. Have a delusional sense of self belief, pray like it’s up to God, and work like it’s up to you. A Grammy or three would be dope too 😂 but I’d still be doing this even if I never made a penny from my thoughts and ideas.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Mannnn I spent years being a broke artist, dealing with death, heartbreaks, arrests, addiction, dodging evictions, struggling to put food on my table, losing friends, and feeling like a complete failure at times. But I’m still here getting to follow my passion and make an impact every day – even through battles of mental health issues and suicide attempts. It’s cliché but if I can do it, literally anyone can! …and don’t get me wrong my vision’s so big I’ll probably never feel like I “made it” but straight up, if you’re doing something you LOVE and CREATE Peace, Happiness, meaningful connections, and sustainability then you’re already living the dream that so many people, unfortunately, never get to experience.
