We recently connected with Aaliyah Griffin and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaliyah, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
As a new business owner, securing paying clients can be challenging. However, sometimes success comes down to being in the right place at the right time.
As a content creator, I understand that visibility is key, which is why I decided to take a bold step: I captured three weddings completely free of charge. While three weddings might seem like a significant commitment, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. At two of these weddings, a guest happened to be present who later saw my work online through my posts, which included around five edited photos from each event.
After viewing my content, this guest reached out and inquired whether I exclusively did weddings. I replied that I actually captured a variety of events and asked what she had in mind. This led to a fantastic opportunity: I was booked to cover The Barber Plug, one of the largest barber shop events in Texas. It was my first paid booking that lednto many more clients to come.
I will forever be grateful for Jasmine and Devante for being my first paid clients and believing in my work (:

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey began when I decided to turn my big dream into reality during my maternity leave. I’ve always been passionate about content creation, social media marketing, and, of course, all things wedding-related. Before becoming a mom, I spent four years in the wedding industry as a bridal specialist at Lela Rose in Highland Park Village. During my maternity leave, I had the opportunity to focus on content creation and collaborate with brands like Great Wolf Lodge, Nanit, and Swiffer Mop. Creating eye-catching content for various social media platforms was the spark that ignited something new.
After months of prayer and placing my complete faith in God, I finally took the leap and started my own content creation business. Merging my two passions—content creation and the wedding industry—has been life-changing and led to the birth of *Blissful Details by Aaliyah*.
Today, I’m proud to celebrate one year in business. In that time, I’ve had the honor of capturing over 40 weddings, traveling to five different states and three countries. I feel incredibly blessed for the amazing couples, talented wedding vendors, and the many opportunities that have come my way. It’s been a truly unforgettable journey.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building a strong social media presence is crucial, especially in today’s world where social media has become the leading marketing platform.
Recognizing this, I knew that to expand my reach to other brides, vendors, business owners, and potential clients, I had to be consistent and visible. This led me to commit to regularly posting my services and showcasing my work.
For two weeks, I posted once a day, every day. This consistency helped signal to Instagram’s algorithm that I was actively engaging with the platform, which in turn led to my content being shared with a wider audience. After just two weeks, one of my wedding videos went viral, and shortly thereafter, I noticed a significant shift in my views. Almost every subsequent video gained viral traction, resulting in a steady increase in followers. This momentum continued to build, with my follower count growing consistently each week.
After a year of promoting my services on Instagram, I’ve gained 19,500 followers and successfully captured over 40 weddings and events.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
If I were to offer one key piece of advice to new wedding and event content creators, it would be: network, network, NETWORK.
Building strong relationships with fellow wedding vendors is essential. Partnering with 2-3 trusted vendors can help you expand your reach within the industry. By collaborating with others, you tap into their client base, increasing your visibility and the likelihood of new clients discovering your work. The more partnerships you cultivate, the more opportunities you have to connect with potential clients from every angle.
