We were lucky to catch up with A.R. Mauriella recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi A.R. , thanks for joining us today. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?

Having the right team around your vision and business is essential. Realistically, there’s only so much we can do by ourselves as business owners. Bringing in the right people who are proficient in their roles can make a big difference as a company grows. This is something I have experienced personally with expanding Arturo Rose as a company because I am now obligated to meet certain deadlines with collections due to partnerships and contracts we may have with retail stores , distributors , etc. it also plays a big influence on the overall quality of your product or service that your business offers , and doing that on a consistent basis.

A.R. , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Abraem Rose, better known as A.R. Mauriella. I am a graduate of Campbell University with a bachelors in business administration and for my entire life, I have been obsessed with fashion. My mother was a singer and dancer in the seventies and my father was a lucrative businessman so both had equal influence on the industry I ended up entering into. I am essentially self taught as far as being a designer, I have always been a person that can pick up on things quickly so my passionate interest with fashion just fueled that. But realistically, that did not happen overnight. It took me years to get Arturo Rose to where it is now as a whole. But, I am grateful for every phase that I had to experience to get here. If you have a thirst for knowledge within your industry or craft, it will never feel like “work” to you. You have to challenge yourself more than your critics, and allow yourself to be uncomfortable in order to organically grow.

Arturo Rose’s product offering consists of dual gendered and non-binary inclusive streetwear that can be presented to a wide array of demographics. We also aspire for future collections to be more aware of the environment and do our part as a company to be considerate of where society is at right now. Our plan over the next year is to evolve into a brand that consists of 100% eco-friendly clothing with sustainable fabrics and materials. It is our intentions to not just be a phase or fad, but a heritage house with longevity that can not only challenge fashion lovers and creatives all across the world to embrace their passions and allow their personal experiences to motivate them into becoming the best possible versions of themselves, whatever that may be.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I would say my journey through life as a whole so far has been a story of resilience. From my father dying when I was fifteen, becoming my mother’s legal caretaker, experiencing a toxic relationship , to failures within the company. Resilience is defined as: the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. But to me, it is the capability to learn from those experiences and allow them to serve as lessons that will lift you to achieve your greatest aspirations. Knowledge truly is power.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This book definitely had a significant impact on my perspective and journey as a creative in this world. It made me create with more of a purpose. You realize, that what we create can have a significant impact on someone and withholds a particular energy. It affected my entrepreneurial thinking by not creating with the idea of monetary value in mind, but because I genuinely would like to see the product that I am creating as a consumer myself or, for the organic love of what I do.
