Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to A.D. Jackson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
A.D., appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
As a child I always used my imagination, in my head dreaming of all these beautiful things and manifesting them on to any canvas I could find. I earned a partial scholarship to the Art to the Cleveland, however, pursued the military instead. Once I got out the military 15 years of suppressing creativity is now all coming to the front. With my creative space lounges content studio I feel like I’m living within my 18-year-old self and all I want to do is create and create space for other artist to thrive in.

A.D., before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well, I am Adam D Jackson, senior born and raised on Cleveland’s Eastside 116th and Buckeye. I love all things Art it moves me and it saved me as a child growing up in poverty. I use it as an escape, especially more now than ever as it helps settle my mind as I have PTSD from early childhood and military service. Upon getting out the military, I knew I never wanted to work for anyone, but myself, and I gained the discipline to do so through my service. My new mission was to create a space where artist could display their work in harmony with other artist, and that the gallery walls be free. This, I hope would be a great incentive for Artist to continue to create and not abandon their artistry.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Getting out the military I had to understand that everyone’s not your comrade. I latched on the people as if they were my battle buddies. I trusted everyone as we were fighting the same war. In a lot of instances I got taken advantage of financially, creatively, and my time was taken and wasted. Now I’m more intentional with who I connect with. I look deeper and not just surface. I would say I like to look at people souls and understand where they’re coming from and how we connect as Artist or otherwise.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I don’t want Artist to abandon their craft I want to motivate Artist to dig deeper and give them space and opportunity to create. I myself went to create an all mediums and learn new disciplines in the art world. I don’t wanna consume I rather, and be amongst the great who, motivated inspire through their works of art.
