Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to A.c. Mustafa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
A.C., appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I would have to say I was about 18 19 when I started doing hip hop . I started making music with my family and started getting positive reviews with my work so I stuck with it and fell in love with making music. I was working out for a walk on spot at CAU in Georgia, got hurt and gave up my hoop dreams and focused on music when I got back to St. Louis
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m A.C. Mustafa. I’m from St. Louis and I got involved with the music industry at around 21 22. Going to open mics and just going outside publicly and rapping. Did my first show at the fubar with the bros Marc Young and Young LB. I been working hard since. Got a few albums out with my latest album Wisdom To Build or Destroy being billed as a breath of fresh air for STL hip hop. I plan to continue growing and working hard to get to my goals as well as help my family and friends with there’s. Got a lot in the works so 2025 should be a big year for A.C. Mustafa as well as my teams I’m a part of. Shoutout 7 Cypher and the Collective
Have you ever had to pivot?
I think the biggest pivot in my life in general not just music was when my cousin died in a car crash. I was just starting to take music seriously and I got the news real early. I went to his funeral and everything and it was like he told me to check my email. So I check it and see a message from Atlantic records. I took it as a sign that I had found my path and it drove me to go a million times harder. Rest in Peace Leon
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I would have to say the most rewarding thing is being able to express myself freely. Art tells us so many different stories and it’s so many art forms out there it’s really amazing to see people expressing themselves with what they love. Genuinely loving what you do when you start reaping the benefits of your work and being able to provide and some day start generational wealth for your grandchildren’s grandchildren and so on.
