We caught up with the brilliant and insightful 904Matcha a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
904Matcha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took the risk of moving up to Detroit for my music career back in October 2021? Taking that risk opened a lot of opportunities for me and those around me. I am thankful for all the memories it brought me since I’ve been here. But had I not taken that risk I think about how stuck I would have been staying back home in FL

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m still in the process of disciplining myself as an artist. It starts with you as a person. Over time as you consistently put your energy into what ever it is that you are trying to achieve, you will master it. Do everything one step at a time instead of trying to take it on all at once, you’ll only burn yourself out. Once you get the hang of that you can move on to the next steps in what you want to do and start accomplishing your goals. You have to change your mindset and make sure the environment that you’re in isn’t poisoning you.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Seeing people smile. I am always one to want to uplift someone’s mood. I always want to see my friends and family happy. That goes for strangers as well. I do my best to create an experience when it comes to my performances. Something unique and unforgettable that brings a smile to people’s faces. Connecting with the audience after my performances is always such a rewarding feeling because I get to hear how they felt and they’re always so excited to chat!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I think one of my biggest challenges was moving to Detroit. I started off making music with my best friend and always performing with him. As soon as I came here the stage felt lonely and I didn’t feel like I could do it without him. I had to perform a few times here before I finally gained the confidence as a solo artist and performer. Over time I started thinking to myself that I was bored of performing without elements. So introduced party poppers and throwing mystery gifts into the crowd. Since then I’ve made sure that no one can predict what I’m going to do at my next show to keep things intriguing. I don’t want to be boring. I live to create. Each show is a step bigger than the last. Get ready for the Planet Matcha Takeover!
