We caught up with the brilliant and insightful 3250 mondo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, 3250 mondo thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
The biggest risk I ever took was jumping on plane and flying down to Houston with nothing but about 130 dollars to my name I had my 1 year old son with me and his mother. We didn’t have money or anything I invested all my money into two artist TEC and Honcho yolo both from Baton Rouge Louisiana apart of click called spider gang. TEC been my favorite rapper since like 2018 I heard his music while I was locked up, I paid him for feature and almost got evicted to do it because I couldn’t afford it and then turned around and paid him for the video and paid honcho yolo for a video and song too, I booked the plane tickets and paid for my camera man hotel room and mine as well. Most of you heard of him, a lot of you seen him or spoke with him, a few of you know him but let me tell you about him. I called bro and said yo I just locked in with my favorite artist how much would u charge me if I pay for ya plane ticket and ya hotel room he gave me his price and that was that. He then hit me up and let me know he would be driving there instead of catching a plane so I said okay I will cover the gas and the hotel. I asked him was he able to grab our bags and my son car seat and put it in the car that way I don’t have to pay to fly with it, he said yes I’m leaving at about 5:30 in the morning I will come pick up ur bags. I over slept and he waited out there for 30 mins calling and texting and video calling before finally pulling off I woke up about 15-20 mins after. He came all the way back to grab the bags and the car seat out of love and understanding. Picked us up from the airport took us to the hotel. I only had about 130 to my name which I was gonna give him for gas I went to check into the hotel and it was a 300 dollar deposit even tho I had already fully paid for the room I didn’t know that they do that because I never traveled. I didn’t have 300 I only had about 130. He paid the deposit even tho he had no business paying it cos I told em i would cover the travel expenses and he knew that I didn’t know anything about the hidden fees. This is twice in less than 24 hours he came thru with a strong save. The whole entire time I was down in Houston I was depressed and down because i didn’t think Tec would show up. I also had locked in with another big artist down there who I knew wasn’t showing up I couldn’t believe that I gave my all and came down here just to come back to Ohio with nothing to show. Bro told me that it was okay stuff like this happens all the time and that he been thru it before and that he has good faith it will come together and if it don’t even tho I only paid for 2 videos and a vlog he will give me 3 videos when we come back home if plans didn’t fall thru. Bro was nothing but positive and supportive thru the whole process and was patient with the situation even tho I had a baby with me in this hot dry heat. Tec finally showed up for the video it didn’t go how I wanted because I wasn’t in the best of spirits and neither was he because we both had personal issues going on and we didn’t have many locations to shoot at. Next day Early that morning my camera man Dropped us back off at the airport and brought our bags back to Ohio. I thought my life would change once the video dropped. But it didn’t but at the end of the day I met my favorite rapper and worked with him and I know if that I can achieve many more things on my journey to becoming a bigger artist shout out to my camera man and my friend Phillip Callahan also known as OwlVision

3250 mondo , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Growing up I was abused i grew up in a house where I was the only child with a different mom and a different dad than all the other kids in the house.I was always hit I was always treated like less and I was always picked on at school and at home. My mom told I should write how I feel when I’m at my dad house and getting treated bad. the first time I did that my dad walked up on me while I was writing and snatched it from me and was about to hit me after reading it but I cried and begged him not to. Eventually that grew into poetry and then it turned into music I’ve always been the underdog in this music sport. Not because of my talent but because I won’t be what everybody else want me to be I’m me and when people really listen I know it because they tell me. My music is real

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I was growing up it was like if you could rap or sing you had a chance of making it in music I thought as long as I kept dropping music birdman would pull up to the north side of Toledo Ohio and sign me but I realized it isn’t about talent anymore it’s business it doesn’t matter how good you are you have to damn famous already before u sign a deal the labels want guaranteed money not a maybe

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My main is goal is to be able to be the voice that comes thru the speaker or headphones that gives the next person hope that it’s light at the end of this dark tunnel we often go thru. My main goal is to make sure my son never have to live thru the traumatic events I lived thru
