We recently connected with 2b1 Energy and have shared our conversation below.
2B1, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
In March 2010, I had been arrested on some janky charges while operating a pedicab. Almost a year went by before the charges were dismissed. What’s worse? It would take another five years before I received a small amount of compensation from my ordeal.
Meanwhile during those dreaded five years, one of my pedicab associates (Maurice Ortiz bka Mo) asked if I wanted to shoot some pool to help with the stress I was going through. I grew up with a pool table and played quite a bit while in the army. The problem was I could never beat him. Mo was a professional pool player, but I didn’t know it at the time.
I’d practice and practice and never once could I win. While practicing, I started tallying a point structure method to see if I was even getting better. Out of nowhere, a light came on to show Mo a new way of playing pocket billiards.
The game took many years to develop. What to call it? Is the game worthy enough to play? Can we market the game to advertisers as a legitimate valuable source of revenue? All these questions and more took years to answer.
What became the most meaningful project from those early days?
The game is called None Is Perfect Billiards which is based on stroke play. Points accrued that can be performed on any level: played solo or multi-players, can determine the winner faster than any pool game and is more accurately calculated. It is a billiards game where a player’s skill level is seen publicly by the numbers for critics to analyze. One doesn’t even need to be a player to get involved. According to our surveys, None Is Perfect Billiards would something worth watching on television.
Truthfully, I didn’t know what I had done until doing my research on the billiards industry historically. After speaking to professional pool players, billiards promoters, pool hall owners, announcers, speaking to regular folks who I sought for verification, it finally dawned on me what I had accomplished that no other person had done in the billiards industry: A True Evaluation of a Player’s Skill in depicting a scoring average, win/loss percentage and the most glory of stats – the blowout % known as a SKUNK.
The game basically is a systematic formula generated from a player’s strokes.
This formula (we hope anyway) can be listed as an Olympic Category for countries to compete against. It can be a teaching tool with our youth (worldwide) and garner another job market opportunity based on a money system game no different that pro sports. Therefore, advertisers would benefit highly if marketed correctly. Yet, the original goal it to classify the game as an Olympic contest and I hope to receive the Pulitzer Prize for my achievement.
While there is a facet of racism and other negative connotations, the formula of None Is Perfect Billiards by far is my greatest accomplishment.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Post-911, so many people were in panic mode, I began writing poetry and reciting them at various poetry gatherings. After a while, I began singing A Capella and met Maggie, a female student at University of California San Diego (UCSD). She took me to the local pub on campus (Porter’s Pub) introducing me to a bunch of students who had started a jam band called Abstract Logic (2002). With around 12 members, we played mostly campus parties, but it allowed me to sing and recite my poetry to live music.
The band split up after the 2002 graduation in which I relocated to Las Vegas seeking more seasoning in the music industry. During this time, I wasn’t in a good frame of mind sadden from the split and unable to break into the music business as I had thought. Drugs creep into my life as depression set in. With guns in my face and employers ripping me off of my earnings, the positive outcome was having a dictionary in continuation of writing songs/poems and access to the library gaining more knowledge regarding spirituality.
By March 2004, I had returned to San Diego and rid of the drug habits from operating a Pedicab – a tricycle form of entertainment offering tours or simple ride discussions on various topics. The pedicab allotted me to network in mass form. An extremely underrated advertising source not used as its full potential. The game was political, and I didn’t know it because of the high amount of tourist visas being excused to earn money. How come I was blind? Because I co-founded a band called the New Dayze’ (2004-2009). In 2006, 2B1 Energy was born.
All throughout my pedicab career, plus the New Dayze’ is a direct reflection of those times, there wasn’t much money in neither adventure. However, it cleaned me up and I was more at peace spiritually. Being a pedicab operator had been such an enlightening experience, I self-published a book titled Pedicab Hearsay (the Birth of the PEPOR).
I’ve written songs. wrote articles. sang and played bass at a plethora of venues in Southern California. I’ve travelled abroad validating my skill level as a performer. Currently as bandleader/bass player for Maturation Sol, starting later than most, the band carries a website (www.maturationsol.com) and I consider it my collective corporate band, I’ve gained a gratitude from all the people I’ve met who are generous and kind. I don’t have a big family who are older than myself.
Due the small compensation, I bought my first computer in 2015!!
So, April 2017 – I launched 2B1 Entertainment LLC.
Unfortunately, I shouldn’t have. What I know about music business or business in general had been microscopic back then. My first move should have been to secure investors/business partners/pre-seed financing prior to starting an LLC. Nevertheless, my emotions of someone stealing and taking credit for a historical formula modeling as a sustainable energy program . . . I plunged in as a baby with no one to prevent me from drowning.
None Is Perfect Billiards and Maturation Sol are the ships now that continue to float. The band performs in Southern California playing at places like Humphreys Backstage Live, the highly regarded local venue for musicians. None Is Perfect Billiards’ media can be seen on most social media sites and has a YouTube Channel.
2B1 Entertainment desperately needs sponsorship for None Is Perfect Billiards for game operations. On Cue Billiards in La Mesa, a well-known business for the pros, is a venue we utilized for past events. We like to host another event at this venue. The business deck is ready to view for investors. With the right people, we can have (for example), a Lady’s Only None Is Perfect Billiards Tournament. Media and game service workers provided through 2B1E sponsored by company X – Y – Z. With so many pocket billiard players, even a simple promotional giveaway event (if a player achieves a qualifying score they win) is branding at a new way. By utilizing the pedicabs, live music, skateboarding events, etc., our events shall be a breakthrough taking back the 21st Century vices. Branding name recognition allows the public to spread the word freely.
NiP Billiards (aka None Is Perfect Billiards) is a game that can be played worldwide on any level. This is fabulous for a new youth program. But we need to the sponsors to pay the service workers. The billiards market shall see an uptick in sales but so will many more. Whose logo will be featured? Which prizes can the player’s win? Which player is World Champion? Marketing their mathematical skills as a worthy profession showing our youth a positive message. The game is entertaining and quick. A peaceful means of competition sponsored by company X – Y – Z.
It is a money-generating systematic game in which sports betting can be handicapped during professional players (or perhaps movie stars, retired professional athletes, pro musicians in competition taking advantage of their popularity – higher expenses mind you). The competition is that tight exposing the already gambling nature of billiards into the sportsbooks! The formula yields an essential category meeting all the necessary criteria for people to watch, cheer and get fanatic about a mathematical outcome from the equation. Numbers for the buyers and sellers is fantastic for all.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The Olympics is a goal for so many people. In many aspects, earning a slot on an Olympic team for our youth gains a prospective tool of respecting your opponents. When I developed my billiards formula, it wasn’t on purpose. Rather, an accidental method that came about from a negative experience. My parents took in foster children where I learned about child abuse, child endangerment at a young age
Using the brain instead of anger, my thoughts are now focus on getting this new phenom game in the Olympics – knowing it resembles climbing a muddy raining steep hill. Hearing stories of society resorting to violent means, this game can be the new wheel for service workers to earn more no different than other sporting events.
Nevertheless, the sponsors are the machines that turns the wheel to go forward – and not in circles.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Growing up in Southern California, there’s a different kind of racism than outright in your face racism. Dealing with it here are obstacles as my greatest challenges. Especially across the country. Criminal hackers, jackers, hi-tech savvy persons who want to suppress you rather than uplift concerns me quite a bit. I’m fortunate in the sense of my confidence, my singing deflating racism as much as I can. It’s my biggest barrier most often in preventing businesspersons having faith in manifesting the destiny for None Is Perfect Billiards. It makes me feel awesome when someone asks how my pool table game is coming? Yet, it’s not the only blockage of our path.
Most societies only trust those who they know personally. Meaning, billiards is a click-ish vibe in Southern California no different than other locations. The pool halls open after 12pm and stays open late-night. The time frame isn’t conducive for many non-creators who work normal business hours. The venues, in the past at least, has mostly been associated with pimps, hustlers, prostitutes, gamblers and drug users. Not so much anymore. Few pool halls or bowling alleys are all ages which is good. The negative stigma is making it even tougher for sponsors to come aboard a new way of shooting pool. I even feel weird going into a bar trying to recruit players/team members with an atmosphere of party people.
We need an authentic paid Ad campaign to recruit our players, our people vetting them to be a part of 2B1 Entertainment, a part of NiP Billiards. For, breaking these barriers is the story of glory be the way.
