We were lucky to catch up with 1Professor recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi 1Professor, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?

Going from idea to execution with my music career as a brand was a timely process but not so difficult once a team to back me was obtained . There was challenges in life and people who weren’t as serious trying to hold the process back but I kept pushing Over the years I’ve learned more about how to market and present music also how to treat this gift I have as a product. Once I had a team in 2020 I stayed focused and we executed my first album with more marketings and promotion than I ever was able to do previously, and officially stamping the stage name “1Professor” as an actual product in an business for consumers. Step one was getting the music together I had to re record that entire album “Melodic Trap” and get it mixed and mastered on a professional level of production. You must also copyright the lyrics and purchase the tracks used for every song which could become challenging because every producer wasn’t local we had to reach out and gets responses back to purchase. Then we choose what songs to market and how to get it promoted which at the time the platform “TikTok” was very popular and new we made sure to utilize that form of promotion along with other platforms as well. When I was finally able to launch my first official album new doors started to open and I’ve been still going hard since !

1Professor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is 1Professor I am a music artist with a very diverse sound out of Memphis TN and the DMV area. I started out as a Dj then took on music as an artist full time. I’m always working on my craft to become better and present the best quality of music possible that gives listeners a look at who I am and how we all can relate in different ways. I drop singles and plenty of music videos but I’m mainly an Album type artist I’m always working on my next project vs just another single or features. I have all type of music and melodic sounds within the music from hip-hop to pop even some country in terms of genre. My most streamed song “Rock” is still going strong and will be re-released on my next album “ kaleidoscope”.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients for me has been getting my music on all music platforms and promoting myself not just digitally on the internet but getting out into the world showing my face at certain events and putting on great performances to go along with the great music.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

After my debut album I had a great album rollout and plenty of promotion but I hit a hiccup a year later where I went flat broke and had no idea how I could continue. Of course in this industry you need to be consistent but I have always had faith in God and my savior Jesus Christ and I knew things would work out for me . I continued to do what I can instead of focusing on what I believed I lacked and needed. Which was shoot and edit content using my iPhone and run small ads whenever I could . I continued to record myself and got better at the sound soon creating another album that was done piece by piece, licensing every beat and releasing it to my consumers with visuals in the mist of an financial situation. It has taught me it’s not about money to make it …it’s about not giving up on the middle of your journey.
