Probably one of the most meaningful projects I’ve ever worked on is a script based on my childhood called A World With No Heroes. The backstory is long because it’s not just “when I wrote it.” In a way, it’s 35 years in the making. Read more>>

One of the most meaningful projects that I have had the honor to foster was to serve as the messenger between two very different geographical places: Charleston, South Carolina and the North Pole. These two places are intimately connected by water. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on is what I call my empowerment trilogy: ‘Loving My Melanin,’ ‘Black Is Here To Stay,’ and ‘BLK Girl.’ These songs were born out of a very specific season of self-discovery. I grew up in Memphis, surrounded by the incredible legacy of the Stax Music Academy, which taught me that music isn’t just about melody—it’s about message. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on, that’s an insane question. The thought of it excites me. When I was in art school at Otis College of Art and Design, class of 2019, I was working toward what felt like a monumental identity equation, something visceral. In 2025, I worked on a project called Fallen. The concept was a fallen angel in an abandoned location. When I was conceptualizing this, I wanted to portray a combination of beauty and grunge. Similar to the lotus emerging in a swamp. I worked with a model and close friend of mine to bring the idea to life. Read more>>

The most meaningful story I’ve worked throughout my artistic lifespan, in all transparency, has been two short film projects my son independently wrote a few years ago. I was beyond proud of his creative drive & initiative. As Momager, I immediately went into work-mode acting as both Producer/Director, he as Co-Director. I was thrilled as I stood witness to him thrust himself into the world of filmmaking. Of course there are a plethora of other notable mentions and big screen projects I’ve been apart of, but the most meaningful!? My young cub! Read more>>

A project becomes meaningful to me when the technical training and creative inspiration are both available to you in the same moment, it doesn’t matter how hard it is or how long it’s going to take, it just has to be brought into this world and you feel like you or your team are the only ones that can do it. And for better or worse, you probably are. Read more>>

The most current, meaningful project is collaborating with my kids on my latest children’s book called, “When Night Falls.” It was inspired by my son, Kaleel Lewis, who as a child was afraid of the dark. I actually wrote the book for him and would read the poem-styled story to calm him at bed time. I finally decided to publish it and made it a family affair. All of my children are very talented, so I included them as illustrators and writers of the dedication page. It makes the creative process of publishing a new book much more meaningful when your legacy is involved! Read more>>
