If you aren’t growing, you are dying, but the hardest part about growing is maintaining quality. As you hire more folks, expand to new locations, industries, etc. it becomes increasingly challenging to maintain the high quality you provided to your clients when you first started. A reality of digital photography that I was unprepared for was the amount of time it takes after the shoot to edit the final images. Products like Lightroom and Photoshop are great tools that can sometimes save a bad photo or make a good photo great. However, I found that especially with large shoots, I was spending an inordinate amount of time trying to select the best photos and edit them to the quality I envisioned. Well for us, there isn’t anything more important to our brand than quality. We didn’t set out to create a successful RTD company. We set out to bottle the absolute best cocktails we could manage. There are plenty of companies sacrificing quality for profit, and that just isn’t interesting to us. We constantly hit dead ends in production/expansion because of potential loss of quality. One of the greatest compliments we have been honored to receive came from Chef Gillespie who recently told a room full of foodies that our cocktails were truly craft and high quality. Having the right team around your vision and business is essential. Realistically, there’s only so much we can do by ourselves as business owners. Bringing in the right people who are proficient in their roles can make a big difference as a company grows.
