Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanira Smalls
Hi Tanira, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started Tagére Cosmetics in 2019 on a mission to create a handmade line of skin care that provided organic ingredients harmoniously blended together to promote healthy skin and enhance beauty. In that search I learned about (and even fell in love with) creating vegan and cruelty free lipglosses ranging in many flavors, colors and collections. Shortly thereafter it became my “staple” product. This started the birth of a lipgloss dynasty!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As with any small business the road from your starting point to success is always one of trial and error and that concept was no different for me. The cosmetic industry is buzzing with talented individuals offering a plethora of beauty products. Perfecting the recipes for my products was very time consuming, when you have a vision in your head that you are passionate about executing it has a lot of highs and lows. Once the recipes were perfected another question I had to ask myself was “What sets me apart from other brands?” Working on my aesthetic (logo, marketing, etc.) was another complicated part of the process for me. It definitely took a while but I am beyond grateful to say it all came together beautifully.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Aside from my cosmetics line, another talent I have is writing! That category spans from poetry, stories, critical thinking pieces and motivational quotes. I think what sets me apart from others is the versatility of my creativity. While I can physically create things with my hands I also do really well in the category of literature!
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is discovering your gift and joyfully using that to make a positive mark in this world!
