Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamarra Holt
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Wow. I have accomplished so much by the grace of God in my 35 years, and it brings tears to my eyes! I was born in Hampton, VA, and raised in the church as a minister’s daughter. I had a long career at Chipotle, ultimately becoming a Restaurateur and mentoring other General Managers. I married an amazing man, Alex Holt, and we have two handsome sons, Ethan (8), and Caleb (4). I left my 8-year career with Chipotle by faith that I would get my MBA and have my second born, and I did just that. I am now a Business IT Analyst and I love what I do.
I have a ministry for moms to inspire them to be their best selves and I post about my motherhood journey on social media. I’ve now hosted 3 major events, the most recent being my largest with 113 women in attendance. I am passionate about empowering women to be all God desires them to be! I am now an author of a 21-day devotional called, Hey Mama You Got This!, and I have a merchandise brand for moms called Mama Merch. My husband and I launched a new church in Norfolk, VA called Renewal Church in November 2023. We are quickly growing and are excited about all God is doing through that huge faith move! I am currently working on my next purposeful endeavor which is to start a non-profit for single moms called Hey Mama where we strive to educate, empower, and equip single moms to thrive above their circumstances and not just survive. In July, I was featured in the local news where they interviewed me to discuss the work I am doing for moms! I am super excited about the journey ahead and all that is to come for me!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of my major struggles are feelings of self-doubt. I sometimes have to remind myself of who I am, who I belong to, and the power that lives on the inside of me. I am guilty of allowing comparison to choke the joy out of my most proud moments. Finances are another challenge that I’ve dealt with as well. Maintaining a sense of balance between my passions, church, family, and friends has been a bit of a challenge, but I’ve learned there is truly no such thing as balance. It’s all a matter of giving my time and attention to what is a priority at the moment depending upon my capacity at that time. What gives me hope is my history with God. At the end of the day, God always provides, simply put. He always provides the funds, the resources, the people, the scriptures I need to combat my negative feelings about myself and my future!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently a Business IT Analyst but there is so much more to me that I am most proud of. I am an author, speaker, social media influencer, and a very active Pastor’s wife. I love to inspire and encourage others. What makes me unique is that I live my life authentically and transparently so that others can know that they are not alone in their experiences. I am also a worship leader and finance leader at my church. I pride myself on being a multi-faceted woman who loves to serve others including my children, my husband, my friends, my community, and my church family. I see myself in the future traveling around the world, motivating individuals to be their best selves in every area of their lives; physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
What were you like growing up?
I believe I was an introverted outdoors-type girl growing up. I loved sports and playing outside with friends. I was quiet unless spoken to, but if you started a conversation with me, I could sit and talk for hours! I was not very confident due to my being a perfectionist at such a young age. I always felt like everything on me had to be in place such as my clothing, hair, lip gloss, shoes, etc. I was very serious about my education and was a straight-A student. I came up in a household that honored God, we attended church every Sunday and midweek, and we were a very musical household. I grew up singing every chance I could get and even became a professional gospel background singer. My family did a lot together and I would say that we were very functional. I’m grateful for my upbringing because at this age I don’t have to heal from my childhood.
