Today we’d like to introduce you to Shozab Raza.
Hi Shozab, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a Boston-based visual artist, designer, and creative technologist passionate about blending art, technology, and design. My journey started with a deep fascination for storytelling, which I explored through drawing and crafting objects as a child. Over time, this curiosity transformed into a love for visual communication, leading me to pursue a BFA in Visual Communication Design and later an MFA in Dynamic Media. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across disciplines, from graphic and interaction design to immersive installations, always pushing the boundaries of how people engage with media. Alongside my creative practice, I teach at MassArt and Boston University, where I share my knowledge and inspire the next generation of artists and designers.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey hasn’t been a single road but rather a series of parallel streets merging into one. As a generalist, I’ve always focused on acquiring diverse skills and immersing myself in as much art as possible. Coming from a small industrial town in Pakistan to the United States brought its own challenges—adapting to a new culture, finding my creative voice, and navigating an evolving industry. But resilience, curiosity, and faith in myself have kept me moving forward, allowing me to turn obstacles into opportunities for growth.

Over the years, I’ve honed my skills across multiple disciplines, from graphic design and branding to interactive installations and performance art. My work bridges the gap between art, design, and technology, allowing me to craft immersive experiences that transform complex ideas into engaging visual narratives. Professionally, I specialize in building strong brand identities, designing digital products, and developing interactive environments that push the boundaries of storytelling and user engagement. What sets me apart is my ability to merge traditional artistic sensibilities with cutting-edge technology, creating work that is both visually compelling and experientially dynamic. I take pride in my ability to adapt, experiment, and innovate—whether designing for brands, crafting digital experiences, or exploring new forms of creative expression.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe the most important quality behind my success is resilience—the ability to keep trying, failing, and learning. Every challenge, mistake, or unexpected turn has been an opportunity to grow, adapt, and refine my craft. Embracing experimentation and iteration has allowed me to push creative boundaries, stay curious, and continuously evolve as an artist and designer.
