Today we’d like to introduce you to Saurabh Ahuja
Hi SAURABH , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Yaa really, it’s been an incredible journey throughout.
I have completed my bachelor’s in the business administration (Regular), and a Post graduate diploma in the Finance stream (Regular), and I passed both with flying colors. I am a poet, content writer, content editor, content strategist, script writer, dialogue writer, screenplay writer, song writer, editor, producer, director, and a filmmaker. By the Grace of God, I am the winner of 29 Indian and 33 international awards.
I worked as a manager for a number of firms before destiny changed my path and pushed me to select writing as my future profession. Numerous members in my family and network of friends advised me that I am making a mistake by leaving my five-year experience in finance and that it would be difficult for me to start from scratch. I listened to everyone, but ultimately followed my heart, which told me that i can become one of the greatest writers in the future.
I started from scratch. At the initial stages of my writing career, I was into freelancing for 5 years and 3 months, and then, joined a firm and worked there for around 3 years and 2 months. I joined there as a senior content writer, but because of my exceptional performance, i have been promoted to Content Manager. I have been promoted and appraised twice in that company. On the other hand, i was involved in film-making. I was writing great scripts and songs around the clock. People come from their jobs, chat with their families, eat food, and go to sleep, but my routine was a little bit different. I was not able to give time to my family and just talk with them while eating food. After the food, i again started my script writing. I worked till 3 AM most of the time, or sometimes 4 AM, and then the next day I was in the office. The result of my many years of labour is a blockbuster picture titled “The Guilt.”
It’s just an idea that came to my mind and i started writing it. The film was on the topic of “Anger Management,” and i was really confident about my work at that time. I thought it would create some big impact on the audience, but what happened was literally beyond my expectations. I have written, edited, and directed a movie named “The Guilt” (49 minutes) which is released over the OTT platform MX player and they showcased my film for four years, and got rave reviews across India. Till now, i have won 49 awards for this film from the film festivals across the world. Now, we are in talks with other OTT platforms to showcase it for further years. I am a prestigious member of the Screenwriting association (SWA) and my all contents (songs, scripts for short films, feature films & web series) are registered. I am a thorough professional. I am a creative person with expertise in writing songs, short and feature films.
“Rise and rise, you have a place at the top.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, the road was not smooth. There were many obstacles along the way, but when I connected with my “Guruji,” every problem of mine started to solve itself one by one.
I’ll give you an example: I was about to film the final scene of my film “The Guilt” when the graveyard’s caretaker got into a verbal fight with my assistant over some issue, and we decided to leave the location. Even after complaining to the graveyard authority about the behaviour of the caretaker, we are denied access to the cemetery for the final scene of the film. Finally, the scene was shot outside the cemetery. I thought of shooting that scene inside the graveyard, but when I shot that scene outside, i found it to be more appealing and better than what I had planned before. So, God does everything for the good. That’s the moral of the story.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Poet, Script writer, Dialogue writer, Screenplay writer, Lyrics writer, Editor, Producer and Director – the winner of 29 Indian and 33 international awards. Many celebrities have given me awards and accolades, and my most recent film, “The Guilt,” has won 49 awards at film festivals around the world. I have been awarded 7 times as best director for my film “The Guilt” in different parts of the world. I have been interviewed by the HTX magazine & Bold journey in the Houston, USA. Zee News also ranked me in the “Top 100 influential people of India 2022”.
I am specialised in content writing, editing, copywriting, script writing, screenplay writing, lyrics writing, editing, and directing films. I am proud of my achievements and accomplishments, for which i have been awarded in different parts of the world, and it only becomes possible with immense hard work day and night.
My extraordinary writing skills, self-confidence, determination to accomplish my goals, never-die attitude, and ability to handle everything patiently are something which sets me apart from others.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Yaa, absolutely. If I talk about my Bollywood industry, there is an urgent need for skilled writers who can bring some uniqueness to creating and presenting new stories on screen. Currently, the majority of Bollywood producers are offering remakes of old concepts in new bottles and are focused on bringing more films to a larger audience.
Mass action films are trending now, but I think the trend may change from time to time. As per my view, I believe that writing good content or on a different subject automatically attracts the audience’s attention. If you are creating a new subject, more than half of the battle is already won; the rest depends on the presentation. However, I believe Bollywood should now focus more on hiring new writers. We have a lot of talented writers in India. Bollywood should take a stand now, say goodbye to remakes, and avoid presenting old films in new bottles.
If fresh subjects involving technology are created in the next 5–10 years, there is significant growth waiting for us.
The advancement of technology is also one of the elements contributing to rising audience expectations. When it comes to visual effects, they play an essential role in today’s filmmaking process. If you use outstanding VFX in your film, a small-budget film will appear to be a high-budget production. So, in the next 5–10 years, I believe we should prioritize technology in order to compete with Hollywood filmmakers.
Thank you so much!
