Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Demlow & Scott Carr
Hi Rob Demlow &, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Brotherhood Designs is Scott Carr and Rob Demlow. We are full-time firefighters in Hamilton County, Indiana and formed this company to make Patriotic art made from retired fire hose. Brotherhood was created due to the opportunity to hand deliver one of our original standard Engine Series flags to country music legend, John Rich, and hung it in the roof-top bar area at Redneck Riviera in February of 2022. That happened to be the 3rd flag we placed on the strip at the time after Tootsies and Lucky Bastard Saloon. Since then, we have placed 3 more, at Whiskey River Saloon, AJ’s Good Time Bar and the new JBJ’s, for a total of 6 venues on Broadway. We are found in downtown activities on visitmusiccity.com and encourage people to do the #NashvilleFlagCrawl. It is an on-going way for us to say thank you to the venues that have our artwork. It is fun to see the variety of people from all over the US that help to spread patriotism from the wonderful city of Nashville. You can receive free Brotherhood Designs swag when you follow the directions found on our website.
Since our inception in January of 2022, we have shipped 81 flags all over the US to homes, public spaces, hardware stores, pubs and bars. They have helped to raise over $50,000 for different organizations through events and auctions. Partnering with Heroes Defense in Idaho Falls, Idaho and JDME (John Daly Major Ed Foundation) our brand is being seen by people of influence all over the nation. Our flag’s popularity is growing and we keep meeting people that love where Brotherhood is headed. If you can see our patriotic artwork fitting well on the walls of your home or venue, we would love to have you in the family. We have 4 sizes, 2 orientations, indoor/outdoor options with multiple styles and creative flair while still remaining respectful to our nations flag. Our website is easy to navigate to find what options that fit your space and wants.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only struggles that Brotherhood has had over the two and a half years of existence is managing having a full-time firefighting career along with families and a really solid idea for a company that promotes patriotism and environmental conversation. The opportunities that we have exist because we didn’t have the fear of asking. The Brotherhood family is a group of pioneers who took the chance in a couple of guys who pay attention to quality and keep meeting the right people. The challenge for us will be to create systems that will balance with the demand that we create while spreading the cool story that the retired fire hose tells.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our patriotic artwork is of heirloom quality that will last generations and tells stories with fire hose that is no longer contributing to the communities it once served. As you gaze at the nations colors, the retired hose has rips, burns and scars that resemble those of a firefighter at the end of his career. These conversations may bear resemblance to those that our country have had. At Brotherhood Designs, our hope is that this story is told to as many people as possible to show reverence to those who came before us in service and pay homage and gratitude by sharing with others.
