Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Ibrahim
Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Knowing I had a knack for certain aspects of branding, it all started off with simple favors. I remember charging my first client $50/week just because she trusted my eye for good taste. It turns out, she wasn’t wrong. I kept pushing the boundaries of my skills and “faked it til I made it”. One day I decided, “let me go ahead and make this something concrete”. I started taking classes for UX design and got certified. Shortly after, I decided to teach myself graphic design and overnight, it seemed, I became a one-stop-shop for small business owners.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Allocating my time accordingly was always difficult. I had to juggle my way through 2 or 3 part-time and full-time jobs at the same time, just to keep my head above water. Trusting the process is difficult for someone who is always skeptical about everything. However, I’m a Chicago girlie, so I was born and bred with tough skin. I became obsessed with time and organizing it, I started taking old projects and making them better. Over time, I became confident in my craft and started raising my prices. Eventually, word of mouth got out and I had a line out the door of small business owners looking for my services.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a connoisseur of marketing and brand identity. I help small business owners bring their reputable brand or brand spankin’ new identity to the digital landscape. From creating logos and branding to developing websites and advertisements, I’ve curated myself into becoming a safe space where business owners can bring their hopes and dreams into a reality. That sounds more dramatic than it is, but it’s true!
Business owners work so hard on their craft, when do they find the time to promote themselves in potential untapped markets? That’s where I come in. I’m the voice of reason with small budgets in mind. And the best part is, I won’t be here forever. I make sure that business owners are trained and ready to fly on their own so they can continue to grow.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Always be a sponge. Soak up all your mistakes, all the unknown, and all the wins. I have applied so much of my past experiences into current experiences and that really elevates my craft.
