Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Saavedra.

Hi Nicole, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

My journey in the beauty industry began unexpectedly after a significant life change. Following the economic downturn in 2008, I lost my office job of over five years while also being pregnant. Despite numerous interviews, I struggled to find a new position. That period led my husband and me to discuss the possibility of me staying home with our young children, a dream I hadn’t anticipated given my longstanding work history.
After spending a year at home with my three kids, my husband faced his own job loss, which left us in a precarious financial situation. With the burden of having one income for our family of five, it became clear that returning to work while still prioritizing my family’s needs was challenging, especially with the cost of daycare.
Driven by my passion for creativity and my desire to contribute to my family, I decided to channel my love for hair and makeup into a business. In 2012, I founded Nicole Christine Styling LLC, where I began offering my services for special occasions such as weddings, professional photo sessions, and events.
Today, my company operates from two locations—in Brookfield and Oconomowoc—and I am proud to lead a team of ten talented stylists, ranging from hair and makeup artists to support staff. Over the years, we have earned several prestigious awards and accolades, including recognition from Wedding Wire and the City of Milwaukee for our makeup artistry. Through my work, I strive to help individuals feel confident and embrace their inner beauty, and I am incredibly passionate about making a positive impact in their lives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

The road to building my business has certainly not been smooth. Juggling the responsibilities of raising three kids and running a cleaning business while trying to establish my reputation in the beauty industry was a formidable challenge. There were days when it felt overwhelming, especially as I tried to balance my family life with my aspirations.
Additionally, I faced some family tragedies that added emotional weight to my journey. Navigating these personal hardships while maintaining a professional focus was difficult, but it ultimately strengthened my resolve. Each struggle taught me resilience and the importance of support from both my family and team.
While the path has been filled with obstacles, these experiences have shaped me into a stronger, more determined person and have fueled my passion for helping others through my work in the beauty industry.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

In my work as a beauty professional, I specialize primarily in bridal and soft, “less is more” makeup styles. I take great pride in helping brides achieve a natural look that enhances their beauty while still allowing their personality to shine through on their special day.
In addition to bridal work, I also enjoy collaborating on photoshoots, particularly with new moms, mothers-to-be, and women in business for headshots. These sessions offer a unique opportunity for connection, and I find it incredibly rewarding to help clients feel confident and empowered.
What I believe sets me apart is my focus on cultivating that personal connection with each client. I strive to pull out their inner beauty and help them see their full potential, creating a positive experience that goes beyond just the makeup application. Ultimately, it’s about making each individual feel special and valued in their own skin. What I’m most proud of is the trust I build with my clients and the transformations we achieve together, both in their appearance and their self-confidence.

What does success mean to you?

Finding happiness and joy in both personal and professional life is essential for overall well-being. Striking a balance between work and personal commitments can enhance life satisfaction. Engaging in meaningful work that aligns with our passions can foster a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
Additionally, cultivating love—whether through relationships, community, or self-care—can contribute significantly to a fulfilling life. Ultimately, enjoying one’s work and contributing positively to others can create a harmonious blend of happiness and purpose.
