Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew James Hemmer
Hi Matthew James, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always been passionate about music. It began as a therapeutic process where I vented my excess emotional energy and stress, and turned into an obsession with the craft. After I started writing and producing songs, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the process. I feel a sense of satisfaction like none other when I get to bring some new creation into the world.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been rocky, and winding, but I still walk down it. It’s important to recognize that sometimes things will feel easy, and it doesn’t mean that you’re doing anything wrong when it gets hard. That’s why it’s good to mark progress by your own unique metrics. For example, improving quality no matter what, as opposed to focusing on streams.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a singer songwriter producer. I love writing concept albums, pieces that tell a story from front to back. I view them as audio versions of movies or books. I am currently in the process of releasing a 4 part album journey called BTRL8THNVR. Part 1 (FALL) and 2 (DRAIN) are released already, check them out! I hope they will bring you into a world of deep emotion and high stakes.
What matters most to you? Why?
I’m not sure if someone as nihilistic as me could say – but as I’m writing this I’d narrow it down to happiness. For humans, you have to find ways to bring yourself joy. The catalyst may change from time to time, but keep searching for those pathways to joy.
