Today we’d like to introduce you to Leanna Williams.
Hi Leanna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Leanna. As a body confidence and mental health influencer, I inspire people to love themselves, regardless of where they are in life. I help individuals recognize their capabilities and encourage them to tap into their inner strength while practicing self-compassion. Every unique story can resonate with others, and through sharing mine, I aim to show that no one is alone in their struggles. My journey proves that it is possible to overcome challenging times and thrive on the other side.
Having faced a rough childhood filled with neglect and addiction, my twin and I grew up too quickly, exposed to adult themes far too soon. These experiences left us grappling with painful memories and a distorted view of ourselves and the world.
I spent much of my life on “autopilot,” letting my body move through life while I was trapped in trauma responses. However, I eventually learned to be mindful and intentional, discovering how my mindset impacted my real-life experiences. I embraced self-love and cultivated trust in my own judgment, realizing I have the power to pursue my goals. Now, I dedicate myself to helping others unearth their own strength and love within.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mental health has been a significant challenge for me, as it is for many others. The consistent trauma of my childhood led to Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and depression. Despite this, I’ve worked hard to heal my mind, and while mental illness still plays a role in my life, I remain determined to move forward. I also have Inattentive Type ADHD, which has added to my struggles but has not defined me.
As a teenager, I was diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome, triggered by a traumatic family fight. During that time, I noticed how mental illness began to impact my actions. I dropped out of high school for a year due to the overwhelming nature of Tourette’s. I faced intense fatigue, struggled to control my emotions, and often found it difficult to get out of bed. However, I persevered and ultimately graduated on time, showing resilience despite ongoing challenges.
Entering adulthood allowed me to focus on self-care, but my fatigue lingered, making everyday tasks difficult. For years, I felt trapped in fatigue, as if walking through jello, but I never gave up. Every day, I fought hard and did my best.
Today, I still navigate fatigue and other symptoms of mental illness, but they are less severe. I have learned to take control and embrace the journey, recognizing that both good and bad days are part of life. On challenging days, I give myself the grace to keep going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have always had a passion for media art forms and helping others, so I feel truly honored to assist people in loving themselves and reminding them to show grace throughout their journeys.
Through my “OOTD” (Outfit of the Day) videos and chit-chat style content, I promote body confidence and encourage everyone to embrace who they are at every stage of life. Remember, “Your belly does not ruin your outfit,” and “Your body does not determine your worth.”
I create lifestyle content that addresses mental illness, sharing my personal experiences and struggles. By being honest and authentic, I tackle tough topics that may feel uncomfortable yet resonate with so many. My mission is to show people that they are not alone in their challenges and that it’s possible to rise above them, taking steps toward their goals at their own pace.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is helping others realize they are not alone. Many have faced similar challenges and found their way through, and so can you! I want everyone to love and feel confident in their bodies. Embracing your authenticity is liberating—don’t be afraid of others’ opinions; do what inspires you! I encourage you to take the steps that feel right for you, acknowledging that each journey is unique.
