Today we’d like to introduce you to L G Boyle.
Hi L G , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Having lived through various incarnations, I have purposely become the model for reinventing myself. What some might call a change artist. A go with the flow kind of person. Or the type to accept what God allows. (Eventually, LOL!) However I choose to caption these levels of existence, ultimately, I am a master of adaptation. I read once that the human race is the only being that CHOOSES not to grow. We don’t like being taken out of our comfort zone. But Dinosaurs taught us a powerful lesson: If we cannot adapt, we will become extinct. We must change, to grow, to live. At the end of my time here, I don’t want it ever to be said of me that I gave up. That I failed to adapt. I would rather have onlookers know, that no matter what life threw at me, I changed. I grew and adapted. I LIVED. I want to example that for my family, children, friends, and the generations to come.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
How did I get here? It’s not been an easy path, twenty years in the making, but it’s been well worth the journey. I can say that now, in hindsight, but at the time, not so much! Setbacks were not endured joyfully. In the beginning they were tearfully tolerated, at best. I beheld a sea of painful choices before me. A chasm of change which separated me from the life I wanted. The only way to get there was to go through it. Terribly scary times! But now, I can see obstacles as opportunities. They are merely detours instead of derailment. After initial disappointment, I have come to believe that such encounters may not be mistakes at all, but instead the very providence of God.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently, I’m in a singer/songwriter phase in my life. Singing has been my mainstay and creative outlet since I was a child. But then, I only hoped something great would come of it. Now I believe! I’m learning that saying yes opens doors and leads to incredible adventures. No, is being fearful and resistant to change. It means holding on to your current situation even though you dream of more. It keeps you in stasis. There is no growth in no.
When the opportunity was presented for me to weigh in on a song my friend had written with a youth choir from Rwanda, I said yes. I listened and loved the song, their vibe, and the vocalist! I became their instant fan. I made a suggestion for the lead singer that I thought would make the song better. That led to an introduction to their leader. He was also my fan. He loved my current video so much, he asked if I would like to sing my suggested update to their song! Yes!
As it turned out, they are pretty hot in Rwanda, and have over a million views on YouTube. So my yes turned me into an international artist. Soon after the release, I was invited to Rwanda for media tours and to film a music video. I didn’t even have a passport! This was way out of my comfort zone. But, again, I said yes (even with trepidation)! Several months later, I landed in Africa and had the time of my life. I am most proud that I didn’t let my fears hold me back.
What’s next?
My short term goals are to keep creating. I just want to challenge myself and make more music from diverse genres. Long term, I’d like to get back to writing at some point, maybe even screenwriting. I have several ideas that could make great TV shows . It could be interesting to break into that industry. Maybe even make a full length feature film at some point. Perhaps see where acting could take me. But so far, yes is working for me! I imagine that continuing in this practice will take me far!
